Blocking Yahoo messenger SMS messages

Phone is a Droid X. I have an ex who keeps sending Yahoo messenger SMS messages to my phone. The Spam filter on my Verizon account will not block them. I just want them block from coming to my phone and automatically deleted. Anyone know how to do this? Verizon tech could not help me do this.

I have the same issue with SPAM that gets texted to me from time to time. Apparently there's no way on the verizon site to acually block specific TEXT numbers ... which is too bad. Especially since I don't have a TEXTING "plan" -  therefore have to pay 20 cents for every SPAM msg.

One thing you CAN do is BLOCK or BLACKLIST specific phone text message numbers. Various TEXT apps provide this feature. For instance, HANDCENT SMS offers a way to "BLACK LIST" specific numbers. So TEXTS from those number just get ignored even though they really still get sent to you. Sort of out of sight out of mind. Of course if you're paying for individual text msgs, they will still show up in your VZN account and you'll be billed for them.

The only other way I know of is to turn OFF SMS messaging altogether ....   but of course you'll no longer get any TEXT msgs.

Too bad though that VZN doesn't provide a way to block specific TEXT msg numbers while allowing other ones to go through.

Good luck.

Are these messages coming through the web. I'm pretty sure that you can block all text messages coming from the web. That was how I blocked some spam messages years ago.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Under MyService on Verizonwireless.com select Spam Control then Internet Spam Blocking you should be able to select "Block all Text messages sent from the web" and "Block all text messages sent from email"

This should help you out...

But that doesn't block text msgs coming from a specific phone number ...  And if you BLOCK a phone number, isn't that just blocking the actual voice phone call, not the text msgs ???  kinda confusing.

Hello,

Thank you Community Members for posting some very helpful troubleshooting tips and links. It is very much appreciated.

If you are wanting to block a specific user on Yahoo Messenger from messaging you, the Yahoo Messenger program has tools in place where you can block another user. Simply block your ex's Yahoo Messenger screen name and this should prevent them from being able to send you an Instant Message using Yahoo Messenger.

Thank you.

I have the same problem. The only thing is I have done all the things listed in this thread. I've blocked messages coming from online, and even blocked the domain yahoo.com and messenger.yahoo.com.  The problem with blocking a specific number with mine is that every time I get these the number has changed usually by 1 number and the yahoo user name has changed as well. I have never used Yahoo messenger so I don't have a way to go to yahoo and block.  What do I do?

I have just solved this problem on my phone-

Yahoo makes it hard to find, but they do have a way of blocking these users from text messaging you.

How to send a command to block all SMS text messages:

  • Send this message text:
    - To: 92466
    - Message text: block all

How to send a command to block SMS text messages from an individual Yahoo! account:

  • Send this message text:
    - To: 92466
    - Message text: block (their Yahoo! ID)
