You can use a bluetooth mouse and keyboard with the Charge.

But does anyone know if this is just a Samsung thing?

A froyo/gingerbread thing?

it's most likely related to the software - Android system.  not sure what version first enabled this though...

I think the Bluetooth ability is first a Samsung thing although software must also be required too.

The Charge phone supports Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR whatever that is.

For Human Interface Devices the Charge supports HID V1.0 devices.

I found this info on pages 80 and 101 in the Samsung Droid Charge User Manual.  I looked at the manual because I wanted to see if the phone would support a portable remote Bluetooth stereo speaker and it does.

It also supports remote bluetooth printing and headsets.

You read the manual? Wow!

Some people are willing to spend big bucks on a dock with a bigger screen and a keyboard for other phones.

Hook the charge up with an hdmi cable and a bluetooth mouse and keyboard and you get almost the same thing.

My charge gives me better netflix playback than my netbook does hooked up to a tv.

So the bluetooth controls come in handy for that remote control experience.

My real curiosity is if htc's, motorolas's or others can do this.

ps it was your posts that convinced me to do the manual upgrade.

Please tell me that you have successfully used a bluetooth keyboard with the Samsung Charge, OR at this point it is still only a rumor.  I've been trying to pair a specifically designed android keyboard and it is not working.  The internet is FULL of frustration from people trying to do the same.  I have not found ONE person who has been successful.

The charge does recognize the existence of the keyboard, but when asked to pair, it gives a pop up that lasts all of one second, that instructs entering code, but that not only can't be entered in one second, it can't even be read in one second.  FAIL.

It is quite possible that the "exclusively Samsung" bluetooth profile does not ACTUALLY allow bluetooth keyboards>..

Anyone????

Hello pursugo,  I can imagine the frustration that the pairing process has caused!  Have you confirmed that the keyboard you have is supported by Human Interface Device Profile?  Have you tested the keyboard on other devices to see if it will pair?  I look forward to working with you further to get this resolved. ^YK

Does anyone know of a bluetooth mouse that is confirmed working with the Charge?  I tried the Motorola 89519N Bluetooth Mouse without success.  Thanks in advance.
