Bluetooth audio and Gingerbread

Since the Gingerbread upgrade, I have been experiencing issues with my motorola stereo bluetooth. I have no audio when watching media. I can hear that the connection is there, but only hear the soft static-like hum in my headset. I have several bluetooth devices and the headset is not experiencing the issue on any of the other devices. With a wired headset also plugged in, when trying to adjust the media volume, the error pops up that the audio volume is being controlled by bluetooth, but i am able to hear the audio to the title in the wired headset and adjust the volume manually. It's like it doesn't make the full transition to bluetooth. This was not an issue with 2.2. Everything worked perfectly prior to the upgrade. I also tried several different media renderers from the market and cleared the cache with no luck.

Also when in call, the bluetooth audio volume fluctuates and becomes very inaudible on it's own. At times sounding very "tinny". The only way that I have found to correct the issue is to adjust the volume with the headset or disengage bluetooth and re-engage.

Has anyone else been experiencing any issues like this?

My MOTO Rockers (S505) worked perfectly after the GB update. I never had to do anything. Have you tried just Unpairing & Repairing the headset?

I did a reset on the phone and am still experiencing the same issue. I did find that the media volume buttons on the phone do control the volume to the bluetooth, but if the bluetooth disconnects, the audio goes straight to the phone, which is inconvenient. I prefer my media volume on the phone remain at 0, which is how it worked with froyo. It looks like it may be a gingerbread glitch.

On mine, the Media controls do in fact get applied to my headset - but so do the volume controls on my headset. And like you, when I turn off my Headset (or disconnect it), the sound immediately comes out of the phone's speakers at that point. It behaved this way in FROYO as well.

In froyo, I was able to keep the phone media volume at 0 and control the headset volume with the headset volume controls. I didn't have to adjust the media volume on the phone at all. I never actually tried to adjust the media volume on the phone in froyo for that reason. I use my phone for media at work and can't take a chance of having any media sounds eminating, so if there's an app or a fix for this to bring the functionality back what was in froyo, I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction.

I did research the bluetooth concern and found no related reports. If you un-paired and re-paired the bluetooth and it did not fix the audio, the master reset would be a great fix. You mentioned doing a reset already. Was this the full factory reset, by going into "Settings>Privacy>Factory Data Reset>Reset Phone>Erase Everything?

With Froyo I lost USB connectivity to my Lexus. With Gingerbread I lost Bluetooth Audio connectivity. My Droid X was supposed to replace my iPod. Now it's useless. Are there any fixes for this?

I just received a new Droid X due to other problems with my original one, and I still have both problems.

I fixed the Bluetooth issue today. My car has an "audio Bluetooth" settings page and the phone required a second pairing with the "car multimedia" . I can now play music in my car from my Droid X via Bluetooth.

I still can't connect via USB, which I was able to do before Froyo and Gingerbread. I used to be able to control what songs or albums I want to play via my car's touchscreen. I noticed that a "Motorola" Disk mounts on my Mac comuter when I plug in my phone. I believe that it is this second component (the disc) that is preventing the USB from working. Can I disable the disc from mounting?

Seems my case with the media volume is a bit different than above.

I have a Droid 2 and use Motorola S9-HD headphones.

With foyo the media volume on the phone would track the headset control. For example, starting with the media volume on the phone all the way down: press volume-up on the headset and the media volume slider box would appear on the phone and the volume would go up a notch. Press again and it would go up another notch. Press and hold and it would continue to go up. When then volume slider displayed on the phone went to max the headphone would indicate max volume with a double beep (and it was definitely max).

With the gingerbread update the behavoir is different. You have to set the volume on the phone with the rocker button on the phone. THEN the headset volume buttons will adjust the volume up and down *within* that range. Sort of like this: If you have the media volume on the phone set to 25% then the volume buttons on the headset will let you vary the headset volume between 0% and 25% (where the headset indicates max). If the media volume on the phone is set to 75% then the headset control will let you vary the headset volume between 0% and 75%. The media volume slider is not displayed on the phone (or changed) when using the headset volume controls. So apparently, with gingerbread you have to manually set the "master" volume on the phone and then the headset control will let you attenuate within that.

I would really like the old behavior. I don't want to have my media volume on the phone set to max and have to adjust down everytime I play something on the phone. Conversely, I don't want to have to adjust the volume up on the phone and then adjust with the headphones everything I use my headphones. And it's really annoying when I have my media volume on the phone turned all the way down and I think it's just taking Pandora for ever to load the first song and start playing....

Is there a setting somewhere? or are we stuck with the new behavior?

After I downloaded the gingerbread OS I had intermittent connectivity with my Lexus bluetooth. I had to voice command dial every phone number twice to connect. The only way to correct was to have Verizon send me a new Droid that had not yet endured the upgrade to gingerbread.It took 3 hours with 3 different tech level 2 Verizon support to get the new phone. I don't believe the people who put out the gingerbread OS at Motorola/Google have yet had sufficient interaction with Verizon feedback regarding bluetooth problems.

I am having the same issue with my vehicle. First I went to the Verizon store, not much help there. Then I called tech support., they did not even offer to send me a phone that had not been updated. Instead, their suggestion was that I purchase a bluetooth device called the Roadster. I do not feel that I should have to spend $100 to fix an issue that I did not cause myself. A little disappointed in the customer service at this point.
