Bluetooth delay

I have had an ongoing issue with my Droid X since I bought it last December. Whenever I attempt to initiate a call through my Bluetooth device, I encounter a delay of 30 seconds or longer before I get the familiar "Please say a command..." prompt. I have tried a couple of different Bluetooth earpieces (Plantronics and Motorola) but the problem remains. In Googling this issue, it seems that a lot of other people have the same problem, but I have yet to read anything of a coherent solution.
I don't get this at all. I have had junk flip phones that worked flawlessly with Bluetooth, yet a top-of-the-line smartphone stumbles repeatedly in handling a well-established technology. I don't know if it's Android or the Droid X, and frankly I don't care. This problem is irritating to the nth degree, especially when you are talking about a technology (Bluetooth) that almost every other phone handles with ease, and without chronic delays.
Does anyone have any info on this issue?
Thanks!

This isn't out of normal, standard phones have voice command in OS compared to a smartphone it is a app that has to startup to run, are you using a task killer and if so did you exclude the voice dial app from auto closing? It takes longer to start if the app us closed completely instead of allowed to run in background.

Hi, Wildman,
Thanks for the reply. No, I'm not using a task killer of any kind.
I understand what you are saying about the voice command being an app that has to launch and execute as opposed to having it built in to the OS. But no way should such tiny app take this long to load and execute. It's a serious flaw that smarter, better, more experienced engineers would have encountered and resolved in their testing. As it stands right now, this is just awful.

Yes..... it has been this way since I bought mine when it first came out.
Last month I loaded the leaked 588 GB and the delay is less than 5 seconds..... so when you get GB, it will be more like any other phone that you have owned.
