So, I came across this link on ebay... http://cgi.ebay.com/Verizon-Motorola-Droid-X-only-Upgrades-/160571718607?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item256... if it doesnt work, go to ebay.com and type in Droid X and it'll pop up, say for $10 and free shipping. I want to know if it is a legitimate deal or not. Can I order this phone for $10, go to Verizon Wireless, activate it, renew my contract with this phone, pay the data plan and the monthly bill, OR do I have to buy the phone straight from the retailer?

All of the auctions I've seen like this (and there have been many, even some for free) require NEW activation. Even then, I do not know whether or not the offer is legit.
Perhaps more information or insight could be had by checking out the seller's feedback.

The problem with deals like this is you are giving an unknown person all of your personal information for them to be able to contact VZW and make a transaction for you. You could just go to http://www.walmart.com/ip/Verizon-Droid-X-Smartphone-by-Motorola-Price-with-New-2-yr-Contract/119974... where you can pay $0.01 for the Droid X and you are dealing with an authorized dealer rather than Joe-Schmoe.

I saw an Ad in the paper (I think that's where I saw it) that Verizon was now offering up the Droid X for 1 cent, with contract of course. Yep, 1 cent !!!! Must be because the new versions are soon to be available, if not already.

I have to agree with the other posters. You can get the Droid X through various sites for little or nothing with a new 2 year Verizon contract. If you are looking at buying one on ebay, determine if the phone is tied to an existing contract, and ask the seller for the MEID number, so you can check with Verizon Wireless to see 1.) if there is a contract tied to the phone, and 2.) if the ESN is good. If the seller won't give you access to the MEID number than DON'T buy the phone from them. They should have nothing to hide. That said, if you're up on contract, just get one through any of the various vendors selling new ones for a penny or so. Good luck!

I got my droidx through cellularupgrades. Very reliable. great customer service. Did you notice the 2900+ stars?. Anyway, you will probably have to make sure the line you are upgrading is the 'main' line. If it isn't, Tony can switch it over for you. I would recommend cellular upgrades to anyone. Enjoy. - oh, and, my droidx came with a 16gb micro sd when everything else has been a 2 gb micro sd! Winning! ha!. It has worked great and I have no regrets.
