Calendar Not Syncing With Google

I'm having an issue with my new Droid Charge not syncing appropriately with my Google calendar.  I've tried clearing the data through Menu > Applications, but when it syncs again it appears to be pulling old data that no longer appears on my Google calendar. There's no data in Cache.

In addition, I'm also getting error messages through the calendar that said the process has stopped unexpectedly and I have to do a force close.

I even tried unchecking the my calendar option under calendar settings, but it still pulls old data.

I would welcome any suggestions from anyone who solved this problem. Thanks.

Dear Ravenwing,

Let's start with some obvious questions:

  1.  Do you have more than one Google Account?
  2.  Is the Google account you set up in the phone the right one?
  3.  Have you tried a hard reset of the phone?
  4.  Have you tried to delete and re-establish the Google account you want?

I am not aware of any settings in the phone that you have missed, that would restrict the sync to a date range, e.g.

Good luck!

Hi-

To answer your questions:

Do you have more than one Google Account?- Nope, just one

Is the Google account you set up in the phone the right one?- Yes

Have you tried a hard reset of the phone?- Yes

Have you tried to delete and re-establish the Google account you want?- Have not tried that. This was set

up in the store when I purchased it.

I would try to delete and reset the account.  It's not that hard.  If you want you can PM me and I can assist, but I am sure if you did a hard reset you have the chops to reset the account!

I am running into this same problem and I don't want to reset the phone options factory defaults as this will get rid very important nursing applications I have on the phone.

Did you try the first fix suggested by addysdaddy? I don't think that one will wipe the phone back to factory default.

That's correct Bill.  The method I'm suggesting simply forces a re-sync between your gmail account and the phone.  It DOES NOT invoke a factory reset

Hi,
I am writing about my wife's brand new Samsung Charge on Verizon. We managed to setup both her gmail account and her work exchange server account fine, except for the calendars:
Her Google calendar shows up fine, but I am unable to even see any other Google calendars that she has access to (both her own secondary calendars as well as calendars that others have shared with her) in order to select them to be visible.
Her exchange calendar says it is enabled (on the list of available calendars), but no events at all show up.

This behavior is with the latest software updates on the Charge (2.2.1 firmware, I510.EE4 build) using its stock calendar software. I did notice that if I use Smooth Calendar, it does list all of her Google calendars under its listing of available calendars, but it still only shows data from her primary calendar. This is also true using the Touch Calendar app, which leads me to believe that there is some problem within the Google Calendar sync software that is not allowing her calendars to appear correctly.

Thanks!

Hello whereizben,

I see you have posted same post in another thread.  I have already replied to that posting with a solution.  Please see the following link for my reply:

Re: Calendar will not sync with Exchange Server

Thanks, again, for posting!

I solved a similar problem by doing the following after attempting to force a manual sync:

settings/applications/manage/all and then select Calendar Sync Adapter & Calendar applications. Once selected I "Clear Data" in both and the phone was then able to sync with my Google Acct.  No fuss no muss.

I first attempted to removed my gmail account and then re-install but it required a resetting of the phone to factory default which I didn't want to do for obvious reasons.  As it turned out, that was thankfully unnecessary.

Hi,

Your reply seemed to work for the Exchange calendars, but I still have the exact same issue with the Google Calendars - the stock calendar will only display her primary calendar, even though other calendar widgets show that many other calendars seem to be available (but none will actually display them). There is no Calendar Sync Adapter app to reset, and reseting both Calendar and Calendar Storage does nothing at all to help. Please help, as we very much want to be able to show the other Google Calendars on her phone, and having to do a factory reset seems ridiculous.

Thanks!

Take a look at an app called Missing Sync for Android and the free app which accompanies it, called Fliq Calendar.  You can then sync with wifi (or bluetooth), I've always used wifi.  It's been pretty reliable.

I would like to help whereizben!

I have a few questions to get a better understanding of the situation.  Are you trying to add other Google Calendars that are associated with the current Google account on your Charge already, or are these Google Calendars that are associated with a different Google account?  If they are calendars from the same, you can sync these calendars by pressing the "menu" key from within the Calendar view > touch "Settings" > touch "Calendars" > and choose which calendars you wish to display.

Now, if the other Google calendars are from a different Google account(s), not yet added to your accounts on your Charge, then you can add the account(s) by pressing the "menu" key (from within the Calendar) > touch "Settings" > touch "Calendar sync" > touch "Add account" > touch "Google" > touch "Sign In" > and sign in with the Google account username & password of the Google calendar account you're wanting to add.  The last screen during this process will bring you to a "Data & synchronization" screen with options to sync 1) Sync Contacts 2) Sync Gmail 3) Sync Calendar; if it's only the calendar you're wishing to sync, then only check "Sync Calendar".  Select "Finish" and you'll have the option, as in the first step, to choose the calendars you wish to display in the calendar "Settings".

I hope I've answered your questions, and have addressed your concerns.

I have a Samsung Charge.

I have had this problem 2 times now. The 1st time I reset my
phone and lost all my apps, notes etc... I did not have the problem again until
2 or 3 weeks after re-installing an application I had on my phone the
1st time I had the problem.           (3 months
later)  This time I noticed it was an application I paid for and
downloaded for the 2nd time that was causing the problem. The App is called (Backup
to Gmail from Cpedia mobile)

I had to go to the Android Market downloads page ( The
application on my phone) and type in Google calendar for the app to pop up
again  (Backup to Gmail) then select uninstall. After it was
uninstalled I went to my Google calendar selected calendar sync then
backup all calendars then sync now. Presto everything works again. My calendar
syncs both directions again.
