Calendar will not sync with Exchange Server

I just got my new Samsung Charge this weekend and have successfully connected it to my company's Exchange Server.  My contacts and e-mail sync appropriately, but I cannot get the calendar to sync.  Calendar sync is enabled in the account settings.  I have uninstalled the account and then installed it again to no avail.  Rebooting the phone doesn't help either.  Our tech support folks noted this phone uses a Samsung calendar application instead of the normal DROID calendar application present on other brands of phones.  I haven't had any luck searching the forums on this issue other than a couple of similar complaints.

My calendar synced form Exchange, and loaded duplicates of everything.  So go figure.

I've had no luck making this work.  The techies say everything is configured correctly and Verizon has been no help.  Calendar is a critical feature for me. I'm returning the phone and going back to AT&T and live with their idiosyncracies - this is not just because of this phone; we bought 5 phones from Verizon but have dead zones and dropped calls in our house which we cannot tolerate.

Thanks to the community for great suggestions!

SuperScout, I wanted to let you know that I have reviewed this matter internally as well as investigated other Android OS forums. I have found at least one other mention of this behavior relating to one of our competitor's Samsung handsets. While I cannot confirm that they are related or that it is a Samsung issue, I will escalate the matter to our Tech Support teams for review. I really appreciate your feedback.

I can't get the exchange sync connection to work on my Charge either. I've tried the native app, K9, and also touchdown (which was recommended by someone at a verizon store). Neither I nor they could get it working. You may want to try touchdown- it seems pretty robust and the 30 day trial is free

Hello VZinNC,

Are you unable to get anything to sync or is it just the calendar that you are having the experience with?

I am having the same issue. Mail syncs properly, calendar is blank.

This is absolutely critical to me - I am a remote (i.e., not at HQ) employee of a company and always on-site at customers; I really need to know where I am scheduled to be next...PLEASE put some resources on fixing this problem.

dsblock, I understand the urgency of having a working calendar on your Droid Charge seeing that it is needed for business!  I found another user who ran into the same issue, and had it corrected with the latest software update for the Charge.  The update addressed an issue with not syncing calendars exceeding 120MB in size.  The updated version is: i510.EE4.  You can check your software version by going to Menu > Settings > About Phone.  If your device software is not up to date, I have included a link with instructions how to update device software below.

Software Update: DROID CHARGE BY SAMSUNG

Let me know how this works out for you!

My phone has the i510.EE4 update, in fact it is at i510.06 V.EE4, and I still cannot sync with my corporate calendar. My corprorate mail syncs without issue. If I wanted to sync my gmail calendar, it works without an issue.

I have been on the pohne with Verizon and then passed onto Samsung, with no resolution.

This is very critical, as my job revolves around my calendar.

I found a fix for my issue, but not certain it will work for everyone. I completely cleared every appointment / event off my Exchange Calendar. Added just a couple items back onto my Exchange Calendar, and then setup my email / calendar accounts again. It synced with no problem.

Some people might not want to remove events from their calendar, just to re-add them, but I tell you, it allowed me to remove quite a bit of cruft from my schedule Smiley Happy

How do I know what version of software is on my phone?  When I follow the steps indicated I get to the screen for system updates and when I click on this it tells me I have no updates available and my phone is up to date. How do I see what version of software I have installed, please?

thanks so much

The "Software version" is actually labeled Baseband Version.

Just go to Settings -> About Phone -> and then scroll down until you read Baseband version. I hope that helps.

I'm seeing a similar problem and could not find an answer. There are a lot of desirable settings missing in the preloaded software.

What I saw was re-occurring and all day events would not sync. I think there was a corrolation with the fact the were marked as available rather than busy. I work every third day and I have my exchange calendar color coded to reflect what shift the day is.

My dentist appointment would show, but these shift events did.

I was also frustrated with the fact that when I looked at an email and deleted it, I could not return to the email list.

I just scrapped it and installed Touchdown.

Hi,
I am writing about my wife's brand new Samsung Charge on Verizon. We managed to setup both her gmail account and her work exchange server account fine, except for the calendars:
Her Google calendar shows up fine, but I am unable to even see any other Google calendars that she has access to (both her own secondary calendars as well as calendars that others have shared with her) in order to select them to be visible.
Her exchange calendar says it is enabled (on the list of available calendars), but no events at all show up.

This behavior is with the latest software updates on the Charge (2.2.1 firmware, I510.EE4 build) using its stock calendar software. I did notice that if I use Smooth Calendar, it does list all of her Google calendars under its listing of available calendars, but it still only shows data from her primary calendar. This is also true using the Touch Calendar app, which leads me to believe that there is some problem within the Google Calendar sync software that is not allowing her calendars to appear correctly.

Thanks!

whereizben,

So sorry your wife is experiencing these issues with her Exchange Calendar Sync!  I am happy to assist!

Found another user experiencing same issue and I believe I have a fix for you!  First, ensure you or your wife have her Exchange Email Account credentials.  Then uninstall the Exchange account and restart the device.  I'm including a link with how to remove the Exchange account below:

Remove Corporate Email Account (Exchange Activesync) - Samsung DROID Charge SCH-I510

When restarted go to Menu, Settings , Applications, Manage Applications, select ALL, then locate clear data and force close the following applications: Calendar, Calendar Storage, and Calendar Sync Adapter. Finally, reinstall the exchange client.

This should allow the Exchange Calendar to sync as expected.  Please let me know how this works out for you!

This fix did not work for me.

Email Sync's fine.  Corp (exchange) calendar does not work at all.  Tried the fix above. Tried factory resets. Tried on a Xoom tablet (which worked fine).  Something very wrong on this phone.  Had a fascinate before that worked great.  The charge is going back to the store as I am in my 14 day window.  Wish whoever stole my fascinate would return it.
