Caller ID based greeting with VVM

I use Visual Voice Mail (VVM) on my Droid X and actually like it. But I just found out that with VVM you're allowed to set up 10 customized caller ID based greetings. Well, I called into my voicemail and set up two last night. My wife and my daughter. But when my wife calls me to test it today, she gets the old original caller greeting that was always there.

I have been back into my voicemail account numerous times and listened to all the menus more than once. Does anyone have any idea what I could possibly be missing in the set-up? Any ideas are appreciated. My last move is to go to the corp Verizon store but it's about a 1/2+ hour drive, so that's why it's last on my list.

Thanks,

Ok, I got a call back from tech support this morning.

He said he had to research some to find the answer but here's what he found.  It's true that the Caller ID based greeting feature is listed under VVM, but it's actually one of the many  features associated with "Premium VoiceMail" which is available for $1.99 per month.

So, there you have it. I thanked him for the call and the info but but I'd have to think on it.

I thought it would be a cool feature to have if it was included in VVM, and I would use it if it was included.  However, I don't think I'll be getting it.  I don't want it that bad.

So, it's a "Premium VoiceMail" feature, not a "Visual VoiceMail" feature.

This is the first I heard of the Verizon VVM having a option to select different voicemail messages for some callers, I am using YouMail because it gives you this option and with using the BetterYou Mail app from the market it works way better than the stock VVM app.

Do we know if this is still accurate - that Caller ID based greetings are only available in the "Premium" level? The chart at http://support.verizonwireless.com/information/voicemail_comparison.html says it's available in Premium and in Visual. I'll have to test this out Smiley Happy

I have VVM but not premium VM.

I set up 3 of my contacts with the ID based replies and it didn't appear to be working, which was the reason I emailed support. His answer was it was showing in the feature VVM but it was actually available only when you subscribed to Premium VM, which had a cost of $1.99/month.

As far as I know this is still the case because I still have the 3 ID based responses in my system, but they aren't active.

Let me know how your test works out.
