Camera flash locks phone requiring battery removal - could it be related to SD card??

In another "solved" thread users are complaining of their phones locking up after taking a picture with the flash on. It seems somewhat random and not related to anything else. Some indicated resolution after charging their phone, which seems odd.
I had the same thing occur to me the other evening. I was taking a series of pictures when one of them locked my phone on a dead screen. The only resolution was to remove battery and restart. The next evening I took another series of photos with no problems. My battery level was about the same both evenings, probably around 65%.
I was following another thread on another forum about SD cards installed in the Charge. Some were installed with class 4 cards and some with class 2 cards. Class 2 is definitely slower than a class 4. (Class represents the write speed of the card) When taking high resolution photos or video there is a lot of lag as the pic writes to the SD card.
My thought is that our lock-up issue could be caused by lack of throughput to the card or a memory over-flow. Maybe someone with more technical expertise could chime in here . . .
For those that have experienced the issue would you please post the Class of your SD card here. The class # can be found next the where it says 32GB. The number is very small in a circle.
Mine is a class 2.

Mine shows a class 4.
I specifically took some more pictures today with the flash and, surprise, surprise, it decided to work today and not lock up afterward (who knows what will happen if I try it again in a couple hours)!
If it continues (and I don't request a replacement that may do the same thing anyway), it's annoying for sure, but not the worst glitch in a phone I otherwise love (not used to having a flash on my camera phone anyway), but I may need to get a case that is easier to get on and off...I'm also concerned about snapping the crappy plastic phone back into pieces....

Well that blows my theory on it being the class 2 card. I am going to continue to try and push mine to happen again.
Here are some other thoughts that could be causing it to lock up:
1. A sync at the same time as the pic being taken, background or otherwise
2. A conflict with another app - this would be very difficult to figure out since the problem is so random
Paelex, I agree with you that a replacement may not be an answer as it will be a refurb of someone else's previous problem phone. I have the case / holster combo from VZ. The case snaps on pretty easy and it protects the back of the phone well. I take it off nightly to put my phone in the cradle.

I don't know about you, but mine seems to do this once the battery gets too hot. The battery getting too hot may be another issue altogether, but once that happens, I know I can't take a picture with the flash.
If the battery is cool, I don't have any problems.
