Camera saves a black picture

Ever since this **bleep** update my camera is now only saving a black picture.  I have checked settings, I have used the camera just fine before this update.  I have searched for similar problems with no luck.

So now do I own a Droid that has no camera function?  WOW!  Lucky me!  Has anyone heard of this?

do a battery pull first. they do wonders for every problem that the droid goes through.

next step would be to send it in i guess.  good luck.

I have the exact same problem. Just started today from out of nowhere. Worked perfect until then.

Try to perform the battery pull first, If you are still experiencing the same problem with your camera, you will need to perform a hard reset.

I had the same problem. I believe it's the Flash player app.

When my phone Updated I downloaded the app right away.

Four things happened:

I was able to play crappy video on the web

My pictures were saved as black screens

Pandora radio no longer worked

The music player was no longer able to play .m4a files.

I uninstalled Adobe Flash player a day later and all of these issues disappeared. Watching video isn't that big of a deal for me.

I've had the exact same issue.  Most of the time when it does this, if I switch over to the camcorder it force closes.  I took it into my local VZW store and they were unable to fix, so they sent me a CLNR (certified like new replacement).

I received my replacement by Fedex just yesterday.  I turned the phone on and activated it, started the camera application and what do you know... force close!

I'm about to call VZW directly and ask for a new phone similar to the droid.

I'm not sure if anything has to do with anything, but here is what I experienced.

Installed flash 10.1 yesterday and installed fine...flash works. woohoo!

Later in the day, I use pandora radio to find that it only works when I'm standing in one spot .... $$%%#@&*!!!

Then I get a "Experiencing technical difficulties" error message.

Didn't notice it right away, but next day, phone is sluggish all day....the unlock "draw pattern" page was acting funky.

Went into a Verizon store to ask if there was a newer firmware....the guy checks my firmware and sees its up to date and tells me to try a new screen protector. (Seriously? I go in to get help and he's trying to sell me sh*t, btw, this was a corporate Verizon store - I hate sales people).

So I tell him, I just put that one on yesterday, which I did (cost $7 at Fry's - outrageous, I know!!) and he tells me some **bleep** about how there could a layer of dirt that can't be seen...give me a freakin' break....did I mention, I HATE sales people?

When I get home, I try to take a picture with the droid and I get all black pictures....aaarrrrgggg!!!

Then I researched to see if anyone else is having this problem....viola, I found this forum.

I pulled the battery and now everything is working.

Pandora radio is working while I'm driving and the camera now takes pictures.

Also the zoom feature is working pretty good....I half-press the "gold" button on the side to focus then using the other hand, i use the lens button on the screen to take the picture.  Pictures come out pretty clear and is fairly useful.

I didn't have to uninstall flash or do a hard reset.

All this plus, some a$$ pulled out in front of my motorcycle out of a parking lot, because my headlights went out on the way home.....could have been a lot worse day than my droid problems, however it worked out ok, thanks to this forum and the MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) class. :smileyhappy:

I take all my praises to VZW back....

pulling the battery or the master reset if only a temporary fix.

I'm having to pull my battery at least twice a day, if not more.

I filed a BBB complaint against VZW and emailed the CEO after getting off the phone with a crappy service rep and she was a manager too....so f'king rude.

This is an obvious manufacturer's defect, but they refuse to do anything about it.

I hope you guys do the same.

Here's a way to email the CEO.

If anyone knows about a Class Action Lawsuit about this issue, please let me know.

i hear ya.

i cannot believe that Verizon has the nerve of manufacturing phones that don't work.  this somehow needs to stop, we need to band together and keep Verizon from producing "smart phones" that won't even function.  how dare they.

there should be a class action lawsuit against companies like Verizon that supposedly do "research" to create a cell phone and make false promises that they will never break.

Verizon isn't making the phones. Motorola, HTC, Samsung, etc. are the manufacturers.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
