Can I charge the phone to my account?

In the past, when I have purchased a phone in-store, I have had the option to charge the cost of the phone to my account. Is this something that is available to do online as well?

You will need to verify this with Customer Service by dialing *611.  It's a per account basis from what I've been told.  My parents did the charge account with their recent order.  However my own family plan required payment before delivery.

If they allow you that option in the store online should as well.  If you encounter any issues online you can always place the order over the phone.  Be sure to mention any discounts that you have for purchasing online and they will certainly match those discounts to compensate your troubles with the online order.

Do you  have to pay off the phone when your bill is due next or can you pay for the phone over a few months if you charge it to your account??

When my parents did their's it showed as a current charge.  They paid for them on their next bill, but realistically you could carry the balance to the following month you may encounter a late fee though.

If you're asking about paying like $20 each month towards the phones, then no, I do not believe it's setup like that.

There are a few factors that may affect your ability to bill to the account, and yes, it is different for each and every account....

First, your account has to have been open for at least 6 months.  Secondly, you have to make sure your service hasn't been "hotlined" within the past 6 months...which means it was interrupted for non-payment after a past due balance. Last, you have to make sure you don't currently have a past due balance.

If you are trying to make your order online, after you choose your phone/features/accessories and are on the payment page, if you're eligible to bill to your account you will see a plus sign that you can click, and then a corresponding checkbox for "Bill to my account."

Customer service doesn't have the capability to override any of these factors so if you don't fit the criteria, a credit card will be required to make the purchase no matter what.  Hope this helps clear up any confusion!
