don't think so without doing other things to the device that you prolly don't want to do. you could "try" a factory reset. i don't know if that resets it to 2.1 or not and have not found anyone yet that has actually tried to reset it to 2.1??? i doubt that will work though....all i can think of.

Prolly? What is prolly? Are you trying to say probably and you  don't know how to spell it? Or are you just too lazy to spell the whole word?

Good work. Go get 'em tiger! You make sure you run around to all the threads in the forums now and correct everyone's grammar, but also make sure that you don't contribute anything relevant, useful or even interesting to the discussion. So far you have that part down pat.

{please keep your posts courteous}

To the OP -

There may be a way to roll back, but I'm not sure. I've not tried to use the previous update image to roll back, but I'll bet within a day or two, we'll have someone, somewhere who's tried it and will post their results. I'll guarantee that if it does turn out that it can be done, you'll definitely lose your stuff in the process. Of course, with Android, that's not a huge deal, since all of your contacts, etc are stored on Google's servers. I definitely like that part. So far I've had pretty good luck with Froyo, but we shall see what the future holds. I'll PROLLY give it a couple weeks before I make a firm decision.

I got it and loaded it, but I'm not really that pleased with it.  Had the phone plugged in overnight.  Got up at 6 and saw the update.  Loaded it (took quite a while).  Plugged the phone back in to fully charge it...light was still yellow at 7:30.  Notification or synching with my Yahoo mail and Exchange seem iffy at best.  Used to get notifications promptly.  Checked today and had 10 e-mails in my office inbox - no notifications.  It updates and syncs when you check it, but not before.  Same with Yahoo.

My office voicemails go to my inbox as a wav file - 2.2 won't play wav files.  Kind of a productivity killer when you depend on your phone for these

Apps seem to start automatically.  Even if you kill them, they'll be running again in about 5 minutes.

My daughter says it's synching all her Facebook friends into her contacts.   She doesn't want them there - but can't find a way to make it stop.

Finally - under the old version, my battery would last from about 6 in the morning until about 10 at night.  Today it told me to plug in the charger at 5 in the afternoon.  And I'm not a "power user" on the phone.

I know that there are some bugs to be expected, but in looking today, I see that the problem with wav files was reported back in June.   Totally unacceptable for something that's been anticipated for so long.  If there's a way to get the old version back, I'd jump on it.  If you haven't recieved the update yet...think long and hard before accepting it.

Wow... what a total waste of of time. {please keep your posts courteous} Obviously you knew what he was saying when he used "prolly"

To the OP and the subject at hand... I agree with what someone said earlier, it would probably do more harm than good to try and go back to 2.1, rather than swap phones with somebody who hasn't gotten the update.

After reading all the complaints regarding this update, I'm 99% sure when it finally rolls out to me, I won't update.  My phone is working fine other than the camera feature freezing up from time to time.  Why mess with a good thing?  If an "update1" as people are calling it to the 2.2 comes out and there are very few complaints and people are mostly happy with it, then maybe I'll update.  But until then... my battery life is good (1750mah from seidio), and I don't run a bunch of apps and stuff so... I'll stick to 2.1 til they tweak 2.2.

found it!  :smileyvery-happy:

Wouldn't a hard reset revert back to 2.1???? That clears the phone back to the original setup. The issue would be getting the message to update every 1/2 hour.

I have not had an issue with email  nor my battery since the update this AM. But a few hours later my bookmarks and weather sites disappeared. But I think that was due to me playing with clearing caches and force stopping programs.

I am still in the learning process.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, in some cases) a hard reset will just reset the phone to it's base ROM, which is now 2.2. Each time the ROM is rewritten, it becomes the only image on the phone. So a reset will just put you back to the 2.2 ROM you just installed. You would have to find the image file for the version you want and then boot the phone into recovery mode. One thing about it though, it will either work or it won't. The phone will either see the image file and do it's thing or it won't recognize it and it'll just reboot back into the 2.2 image.

I would try it just out of curiousity if I didn't want to avoid reinstalling all my apps. I might have to ask around and see if anyone else has tried it. Inquiring minds want to know.

Ive been trying all afternoon to go back to 2.1 and there is no way without {edit for TOS violation} the phone. Your best bet is finding someone who has not recd the update and trade phones, and then ignore the update prompt. Thats what I am doing.

Im sure Google will release some sort of additional update to 2.2 soon, the same thing happen with 2.1 ...when 2.1 came out it was garbage and update1 came out making it more tolerable, yet the best one to date in my opinion.
