Can I install computer software on my device?

Question

Is it possible to install "regular" software on your phone. Not apps, but like software you would install on windows with an .exe file. Best Buy told me today that you can and I didn't think it was possible. My phone is:

MODEL NUMBER: Droid Mini

SYSTEM VERSION: 24.13.2

ANDROID VERSION: 4.4.4 KitKat

BUILD NUMBER: SU6-7.2

No you can't. You can install android apps through your computer called sideloading but you can install desktop software
