Can I move my contacts off of my phone and to gmail?

My phone is running out of space and for some reason a lot of my contacts are saved on my phone instead of thru gmail. Is there a way to save my contacts thru gmail without deleting them and putting them back in or without resetting the whole phone?

Good Afternoon!

Do you know if it's the SD card memory or the phone memory?  If it's the phone you may need to move pictures from the phone memory to the SD card, then set the SD card as the default memory space for pictures. (Launch the Camera, tap Menu, tap the settings icon, then tap Storage and choose Storage Card.)  If it is the SD card memory, then you may want to move files from your card to a PC to free up space. To do that, just plug in your device to the PC and in the notification bar at the top of the screen choose Disk Drive. Then do a drag and drop from the file that pops up on the PC screen and a folder in the computer.

phone contacts can be backed up via backup assistant, then log into your accont there, export, and import into gmail

they will still be on the phone as gmail contacts though

you may need a larger sd card

On the Droid Incredible, you can export the contacts to the sd card. Copy the resulting vcf file to your computer. Log into your Google account and import the vcf file into your Google contacts. Verify that the Google sync in turned on in your phone.

On the phone delete all your phone only contacts. Individually unfortunately. You can select to view only the phone contacts by opening the People application, press menu > view > uncheck the Google contacts. Each line will tell you how many contacts are saved under each type.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
