Haven't been able to pull (2.2) yet, but when I'm finally able to get it, do I need to remove the SD before hand. I have stuff on it I don't want to loose. I think I rmbr this being mentioned some where before, but don't rmbr where. Any info or advice on this would be greatly appreciated, thank u in advance.

I will be happy to.

Rest assured that any and all files on your SD card are completely safe.  Installing any updates to the phone...even doing a full factory reset and wipe....will not affect your SD card.
I have done it many many times with multiple phones.

My advice....download and install the update.  If it goes as intended, you won't even loose your call logs or contacts.  It's the same thing as installing a service pack on a windows PC.

Hope that helps you
