Can't slide bar to answer calls?!

My Droid by Motorola has been malfunctioning for several weeks. However, now I can't slide the bar to get into the phone or accept calls! I'm wondering if a hard re-set might fix it? I took out the sim card but that didn't make a difference. Will insurance cover it? If so, when I took it into the Verizon store (with previous problems) why didn't they mention replacing it w/the insurance.

A hard reset might (but if you were already having problems probably not) fix it and, if you call tech support or take it in store, that will be one of the things they have you try (the first will be a battery pull for about 30s). If you have the extended warranty through the insurance, and neither of those options work for you, they will replace it with a certified like new device. You will have to use the same battery, sd card, and battery door, though as none of those come with the replacement device. My wife just had a similar issue with her Droid (the center of the screen was totally non-responsive) and we got hers replaced for free. Just make sure you call cust service and not Assurion, as they may make you pay a deductable.

Thanks for your response!
I took the phone to the Verizon in Round Rock. Based on their recommendation, I used the insurance to replace the phone. I received it today. Guess what! I'm having some of the same issues AND the home charger that was sent w/the phone isn't working properly. It's also very hot to the touch after 10 minutes? Strange. I'm a bit frustrated now. I spent time and $100 to get a replacement and it's not satisfactory. I'm not too happy.

I hate to hear you are having some of the same issues with the replacement phone.
Did you happen to reinstall the same applications that you had on the last phone? If so, that may be an issue and I would recommend uninstalling the applications. It's unlikely for an alternate phone to duplicate the same behaviors. Not impossible, however unlikely.
How is the battery? Do you notice any bulging or corrosion on the battery? What happened to the original charger? When you plug that one in, does it also get hot?
If the phone still isn't working properly, you can call Asurion at 888.881.2622 and they can replace it. I know it may seem like a hassle but at least we can get a phone that works properly.
