More likely than not, if you are going to use it as evidence you need to get transcripts from VZW. If it's a criminal matter, contact the Police Department and they will deal with VZW to obtain the evidence. If it's just evidence between friends like drunk texting, you can just forward the text message to your email address.
It would also be wise to delete your phone number from Device type in your profile.
yes you are able to back up Text.... go to the Market and down load SMS Backup+...it will back up every conversation that comes thru on text.... but it will no pick up the picture or video messages..... it is great....
