Can you remove icons and programs

I have a couple of icons and programs that I will never use... I was wondering if I could remove them.... Twitter, City ID... Thanks

Ok read further into forums and answer is obviously NO.... Thanks Verizon.... I love the service and I love my phone but I paid 300 dollars for this and I should be able to install or delete whatever I want on MY PHONE.... GET A CLUE

You can't remove the program, but you can long press the icon and drag it to the trash at bottom of the screen.
