So, I'm getting one of the snap on rubberized case thingies for my Droid X, but I would really like to have a leather or pouch type case that is big enough to fit the phone with one of these snap ons also inside. It seems like all the leather pouches are made so snuggly and will only fit the phone. I would just feel better if I had something more substantial covering the screen also when it's in my bag. Anyone found anything like this that would fit a generic snap on cover also?
I would suggest you go to someplace like Best Buy or Radio Shack and look at their universal cases, they may have one that would work for your situation..

I do not own this case but I found it on Amazon.com. It may be of some interest and if you do not mind the word Garmin on it.
I do own the following case and use it with my Droid X. It's a Leather Slip Case and the Droid X fits snugly without slipping out. I needed it because I have the Desktop Docking Station. And I put my Droid X into the Docking Station and that Station will not accomodate any type of case on the Droid X. So, slip the Droid X out of this case and install it into the Docking station with ease. Again, it has Garmin on the case if that is an issue for you. Does not bother me.

provides no confirmation that the case will be suitiable for the Droid X. The case does fit a Garmin Nuvi 3790T GPS which is slightly shorter than the Droid X.
Like you, I found the Droid X wouldn't fit in the dock, with the case on. After the first couple of time taking it off, it became a bit easier. I am still on the lookout for something better. A Wal-Mart camera case might work. I jusdt haven't had time to look.
As for protecting the screen, I bought a pack of the screen protectors at the Verizon store (they are cheaper on eBay). There are 3 to a pack for about 10 bucks. The Owner's Manual says that the phone works by touch of the flesh and protective covers may not work. However, I haven't had any problem so far. My next thing to try is a stylus. The screen protector should prevent any stylus damage. My fingers are too big for the keyboard, so a stylus might help, if it will work.
I just bought one on ebay for under $5 including shipping. It looks quite nice and can be clipped on the belt or it can be strapped through the belt. There are several different types you can use. I recommend this because everyone else will charge 4x as much for an identical product. Good Luck!
