Charger connector play

My DROID X has a little looseness in the micro USB connection next to the HDMI connector. I have always been careful not to put any strain on it. I note that the HDMI connection male plug fits up snug against the DROID providing its own strain relief. But the micro USB make plug does not, and the female receptical is recessed from the edge of the housing by an estimated 15 mils. Does anyone else note a worrying looseness in that charger connection? One cannot see from the outside whether this connector is surface mounted or a thru-hole component. But if the pick and place is off a little or has too wide a tolerance, it could explain this. Any "bat wings" engineers care to comment?

My charger is the same way. When I'm in my car with the charger plugged in, I randomly get the message telling me the charger has been disconnected, and that I should unplug the charger itself to save the environment or whatever.
