Charging Droid

What is the best way to charge my Droid? normally i plug my phone in before i go to bed and let it charge all night and then just unplug it in the morning when i leave for work but I've heard it's bad to let it charge all night? should i just let it charge until the battery is at 100 and then unplug it? also should i let it die all the way before i charge it or not wait so long?

If you use the plug it came with, then it should be fine all night. It is an "low drip" power cord that doesn't cycle the power.

Do not use the phone when it is plugged in though, this will cause battery wear.

The best way I have found out to charge a phone these types of phones is by powering it off awhile it is charging. It will charge fatser. Secondly I don't see why it wouldn't be okay to charge it every night. I tend to let the battery drain until I charge it again

I charge mine every night and as long as i have had mine it's not an issue. You can not turn your droid off and charge it. The phone will turn on to charge.

Get a multimedia dock and leave it in there all night.

The droid can not be turned off while it is being charged.

You can turn the Droid off AFTER it's been plugged in.  If you turn it off prior to plugging it in, it'll just switch back on.  Really don't see the need to power it down though.  I've used the Droid for ~7months with the multimedia dock every night and my battery life is as good as ever.

at I have found you cannot charge the Droid with it fully off. If you have the droid off and plug it in after a minute it turns back on, if you turn it off after you plug it in again the phone after a minute or so will simply come back on.

Additionally this happens with the Droid while in the docking station. However you can give it a full 100% charge and then unhook the phone and then turn it completely off and it will stay off. I have used this method many times and many times just let it sit in the dock or connected to the power cable.

I don't mind it being on while charging but at night I may get a text, MMS, or email and it will blast out with the "DROID" notfication which use to wake me up. You can always put it in silent mode and that takes care of that little ditty.

Before I put my Droid in the multimedia dock every night, I simply turn off the wifi, gps, and refresh. That way, I don't get waked up with "DROID" several times a night, but still receive any incoming phone calls.

I don't have a droid, but on my G1 my phone will charge way faster when it is completely powered off. When my phone is turned on while charging it will take much much longer to charge.

Hey Cobjones,
Could you please explain how that would cause battery wear? I would have thought that with it plugged in that it would draw directly from the power cord similar to a laptop when plugged in?

Maybe it's the custom roms I've been running, but I can definitely turn mine off and it stays off while charging.
