City ID App???

2 week ago my Incredible had to be replaced because of a broken charging port on the phone.  Anyhow, today a co-worker was complaining about the City ID app on his Incredible that starts itself up all the time.  I laughed and mentioned how there were numerous complaints on various forums regarding City ID and how it could not be removed.  I started looking through my Incredible and City ID is not installed on the new Incredible I received, but was on the one I got on launch day.

Just wondering if there is anyone else that has a newer Incredible and has noticed City ID not being on there?  I am not missing it by no means, I hated that **bleep** app.

LOL..no I wish I was on 2.2...but unfortunately waiting like everyone else at this point.

Maybe Verizon did listen to customer complaints, but somehow I doubt it.   It could just be an annomoly that it is not there, but fine with me.  Hopefully when I do get 2.2 it won't get re-installed.

It's on 2.2 but your settings stay the same. I declined the service on 2.1 and have made plenty of calls today to test the app and nothing.... its like a ghost app that does nothing in the background.

i would love to know how to remove it. its a thorn that says its not running but seems to add up in cache value everytime i see it. i was hoping with 2.2 you would have the option of getting rid of it.

Can't be uninstalled. Thats what people around these parts call "bloatware", meaning it's not being used and can't be removed.

Just found out today I have been scammed by City ID and Verizon for over 2 years of owning this phone!  That is over $50 of fees.  I never opt'd in to subscribe to this app for $1.99 a month.

This is the most dishonest thing I have seen.  I spent over $300 per month with Verizon and they decide to nickel and dime with this $2 hidden fee?  Oh yeah, they also make it hard for you to remove the app.

I called today to ask for money back and they said "well, it is hard for anyone to subscribe to something without them knowing.  So we can only offer you 2 months of credit."  Wow a whopping $4!  I have never opt in for something that would charge me a monthly fee.  Never!  And they got me for well over 24 months of $2/month.

I just want people to know about this.  I was stupid for not checking my usage bill (I have paperless and I rarely check).  If you have the Incredible or any other VZW android phone, check if you have City ID and then check if you have a $1.99 charge per month.  Call Verizon to complain immediately.  At the same time, open the App and go to subscription status.  There, you will see that they have automatically subscribed you and you can also unsubscribe there.

Voice up to Verizon and let them know of the deceptive practice.
