Contacts on phone and back up assistant aren't consistent

I just received a replacement phone and am using back-up assistant to save my contacts.  However, my phone has approx 50 more contacts than BUA online.  How do I get BUA to have my complete contact list?  Do I have to manually input the missing ones on BUA before I change phones???

Just FYI, if you save your contacts as google contacts, associated with your gmail address, all this will be done automatically.  Due to certain modifications I make to my phone on a regular basis, I do a factory reset about once every couple months or more and I never worry about contact information.

Just export your contacts to the sdcard and import them to the new device. Open the contacts app, menu - more- import/export.

   That funny, I have a tendancy to go through a device from top to bottom and I didnt even realize that was option was even there....  Android has so many hidden menus it is wild...  I usually use MyBackup but this is nice to know about..

But Google Groups do not pass through to the Droid x.  That is a problem.

Perform a manual backup

Note: Steps to back up contacts may vary based on device.

1. Open the Backup Assistant application on your device.
2. Select “Backup Now.”

Schedule daily recurring backups

1. Open the Backup Assistant application on your device.
2. Select “Options” > “Schedule” or for some devices you would select “Recurring Sync.”
3. You can choose from the following times:
4. Morning
5. Afternoon
6. Evening
7. Late Night
8. An automatic backup will only occur if there have been changes to your device's address book since your last backup.
