Contacts will not show in text messages

When I go to my messages screen and see the list of text messages, only the numbers of the people I am messaging will show up. This all of a sudden started happening and I do not know how to fix it.

If you contacts are transfered from an existing phone their names will not show up if they are saved in your list as a 7 digit number, because incomming texts register the area code. For example I have a contact saved as 555-0000 and this person texts me, the phone reads the incomming texter as (111)-555-0000. The only way I know to fix this is to go through your contact list and add the area code for each contact.

This just happen to me after I linked mutiple contacts with facebooks contacts.  I'm unsure if this is the reason but the verizon "kid" seemed to think so.  He suggested I remove the Facebook app and only use Facebook online.  Honestly, I don't have much confidence in his diagnosis though.  Anyway, I corrected the situation by logging into my Gmail account->More->Restore contacts.  I then choose a custom time for when I was sure they were still showing my contacts.  Once complete, I restarted my phone and BOOOYA it's fixed.  Hope this helps. 

If there is any other info on possible solutions/background I'd appreciate the info as well.  I'd love to use my facebook and be able to link my contacts up, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen for the foreseeable future.  -JV

I have had this happen over and over again.  I am tired of my contacts disappearing, sometimes (not always) reappearing and then being required to link again.  I am so over this phone!!

I understand this can be frustrating and I would like to help.  Are your contacts synced via Backup Assistant, Gmail, Exchange, Facebook?  Do you recall any changes with the device right before this happened?  This is not a known issue with the device and I would like to locate any trends that will help address this issue.  Please share details.  Thank you.

Ok, but how.do I.get the.contacts.back that have been pulled completely and

the backup did not include them because it.assumed that the contact was

deleted by choice?

I am having a problem with my razor maxx... post ICS update.  My photo does not show up in texts.  When I press and hold the ghost photo it says contact can't be found.  IT'S MY PHONE....why can't I be found?   I am in my contact list by the way. I tried 2 other texting apps but my photo didn't show up on them either so I uninstalled them. Can someone please help?

This is easy to fix. First like the verizon support people say. Make sure your contacts are backed up, back them up to SD card also just to be safe. Make sure you have your pictures saved on sd card and any information you wanna safe. Do a safe mode on the phone, (google safe mode and your phone model) if safe mode oesnt work, do a master reset. If master reset does not work you need a warranty replacement. Doing this will cut your time wasted on the phone when you call tech. I hope this helps. (google master reset and your phone model)
