Couple of questions on Android/Incredible 2 - Organizing Apps and Deleting icons after deleting apps

I am new to Android after being a Palm Pre user for a while. Loved the OS in Palm and found it a bit more user friendly than Android so far, though it could be that I am still in the steep part of the learning curve. Anyway, the two big questions I have are:

1 - Is it possible to arrange my apps into different "pages" of my app listing based on the type of app? I know there are apps that will catalog them, but none that I have found that allow me to just go to my app page and catagorize them the way I want. I also see there is something that looks like the ability to create folders into which I can drop apps. That would be cool if I can figure out how to use it.

2 - I would like to delete icons of apps that either came with the phone or that are remaining after I deleted the app. For example, I have no use for NFL or Stocks or others, yet when I go to the section that allows me to delete apps and click on these, the option to delete isn't there because, I assume, these are merely "ghost apps" that are there for me to activate. Also, I deleted RSS Demon and yet the icon remains. Cannot figure out how to get rid of it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

1) Not really.  There are some 3rd Party Apps to do that, but it isn't really built in (Folder Organizer comes to mind).

2) Welcome to the wonderful world of bloatware.  Basically HTC took the stock version of Android and did a bunch of stuff to it to make it how they wanted "your" experience to be.  After that the Locked the Boot Loader and the whole System so you can't really modify very much of it.  They then sold that device in Europe as the Incredible S and built a CDMA/GSM version called the Droid Incredible 2 for Verizon.  Verizon along with HTC then filled the phone with a bunch of "fun" apps that you cannot remove or disable.  They (Verizon and HTC) claim that this is to "enhance" your experience.  Thats the longer answer.

The short answer is no... you cannot remove any of the Verizon stuff from your phone.

Hello teecee666,

As far as arranging apps onto a different page, you can do so on the home screen. Simply press & hold the icon and you can move them to any one of the seven screens of your choice. Once you are in the application listing, you cannot. As previously stated, the best option would be to look for a 3rd party app in the Marketplace.

The native apps on the device are embedded in the operating system. Although you have the option to add & remove shortcuts from the home screens, you cannot delete them from the device permanently.

Hope this helps...

Since we can't delete some of these built-in apps, is there a way to prevent them from running? For example, I have no use for "Slacker" radio, but it appears to be running in the background. I'd like to disable it.
