I am 13 Months into my current 24 month Contract.
Was just wondering if anyone knew how much the droid would be if I bought it now? Would I have to renew my contract?
Thanks in advance

The pricing will be $200 after $100 Rebate. If your plan is $49.99+ then you qualify for a annual upgrade and get it at that price or wait til your 20th month. If you don't want to extend your contract then you will have to pay full retail which I'm sure will be $500+ and you will still be able to get the rebate. Just keep in mind you will need a data plan.

Woyala is mostly correct. But I want to clarify one thing. You don't receive a rebate if you pay full retail for a phone. You only get a rebate if it's purchased at the 1 year or 2 year contract price. Full retail purchases are not eligible for the rebate.

You must either be mistaken about the discount you're getting. Or you're one of the lucky ones who gets misprinted receipts. I know for a fact it's an official policy that devices at full retail are not eligibile for rebates. The receipt should be printed with the phrase "Rebate Ineligible". Whether or not this happens is a matter of chance. I've seen cases where the rebate eligibility was removed because of an instant rebate, but there's nothing on the receipt so you're still able to send it in and get an additional rebate. Errors happen. But I know and can confirm it's an official policy.

Kind of in the same boat myself, still have a while to go on my 2 year contract but looking at upgrading to a smartphone. So I'll end up paying full retail, question about that though. When I look on the site to upgrade it says month to month price. So if I pay full retail on a new phone am I still under contract for the remainder of the two years or is my deal just month to month then?
Thanks

Ok so here's the scoop. I called verizon yesterday, because im a couple months into my phone contract, nd i have a [edit] phone Moto VU200. You cant get the upgrade price if your in contract, which is horsesh*it becuase AT&T did it for the I-phone 3G. You have to pay full retail. If you decide to blow 559 at full retail, then you can 1.) Cancel your other plan and pay an ETF and then get the phone at rebate price for a new 2 year. or 2.) Get another line and buy the Droid and have two lines to pay for. It's all crap!!! Current Verizon customers should be offered the rebate price, I mean that's who your trying to sell it to here right verizon??? If so your doing a crappy job. No normal person who is lacking in-depth knowledge of OSS and google os is going to buy this phone for full retail, thats retarted. Verizon really shot themselves in the foot here

If you are in the first year, what about the option to pay the 1 year price for the phone (I think I read somewhere that it is $269 or so) under the Lost, Stolen or Damaged. My understanding of this is that you have to not have insurance on the phone (you can cancel it before Friday) and that you have to be in the first year. You pay a bit more, but it sounds better than cancelling, going with another carrier, and back to Verizon.
Or, if you are in month 13, just make sure you in a 49.99 plan so you can upgrade without a problem under the annual upgrade program in the New Every Two... this plan benefits Verizon because they know you will be in contract another 2 years, instead of 1... and if you take advantage of it every year, your contract will never end.
