D2 Global Music Player

Hopefully someone can help me with this issue this go around since 100 people viewed my last question but I got 0 responses...maybe its just me with this problem.

If I create a music playlist in either winamp or the default music player on the D2 Global, the phone will not make it thru the 1st song even before it closes the music player. Pandora doesnt do this, so im not sure what setting it could possibly be. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

This sounds like a really rare issue. Since it is so rare and is reoccuring for both media players, you may want to complete a factory data reset on your phone.

BUT

Before you continue. Have you tried removing your battery? Have you tried clearing the data out of those applications?

To clear data go to settings > Applications > Manage applications > click on "ALL" which is an icon on the top > Find "Music" as well as "winamp" and click on them, inside the app click on "clear data."

If neither of these two work, you will need to complete a factory data reset.

MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR CONTACTS. Use backup assistant, or gmail. Go to settings > accounts & Sync, choose an account, make sure contacts is selected.

To complete a factory reset, go to settings > privacy > factory data reset. your phone will shut off, you will need to reprogram the device. *228 press send and choose option 1 to reprogram. You will have to setup all of your facebook/email accounts again.

I had to do a factory data rest on my D2 within the first couple of weeks due to a similar issue, so hopefully you will have the same success!

And just to check: you are not using an automated task killer, or the auto-end on those programs in the built in task manager?

Those are common reasons for music players to stop, but you would probably remember if you had done that!

Nope, no task killer. I just figured it out somewhat. Under display settings, I had the screen timeout to 1 minute which was the culprit. I set it to never timeout the screen now and the music player does not stop...but...wont that just annihilate my battery? Is there a way to have the screen dim and not shut the app off? Thanks again!

Get youself the power widget. Touch and hold on the home screen, select android widgets, select power control. the button on the far right will be your brightness control.

I personally use Juice defender all day long to save battery life. I listen to music all day long sometimes and it lasts the entire day with Juice Defender.

This REALLY sounds like you have the Auto-End List feature enabled in the stock Task Manager program. To be absolutely sure, open the Task Manager app, select the Auto-End List tab at the top. If there are ANY programs listed there, they are on the Auto-End list. The two most likely culprits are Music and Gallery. I know it doesn't make any sense that Auto-Ending the Gallery would cause your music player to stop, but there it is.

The reason the Auto-End feature seems like such a likely culprit is because it performs its nefarious service when the screen times out. You say that changing your screen to not time out solved the problem, so apparently the screen time out is connected to your issue. Since I had the same issue as that which you initially reported aand found the Auto-End List to be the problem, I would suggest you be absolutely sure there are no programs, especially Music or Gallery, listed in your Auto-End List.

Thanks Tromos! My music player would time out exactly 2 minutes after my screen went off. I called tech support 2 times and spoke with 4 different people. We took music off the auto task end list, cleared the memory, did *228, and ultimately reset it to no avail. It wasn't till I took GALLERY off my auto end list that my music player worked. Thanks!!
