D2G charger acting up

I have a motorola issued charger for my D2G and up to this point(i've had the phone for almost 6 months) the charger has been charging the phone w/o a problem. Over the last few days, the charger will randomly stop charging the phone while i have it sitting on a table. I want to know if i have shell out for a charger or if i need a new phone.
