Warning to everyone considering buying the DriodX:
I purchased mine from Verizon's marketing department (800-811-5552) on July 19, and was told it would arrive on August 2. I called on August 4 when it hadn't arrived, at which point I was told it won't actually ship until August 20! That's three weeks AFTER the date I was supposed to receive it.
I received a letter from Verizon showing new activation on July 19 - so I did indeed order. They clearly made up a false ship date so that I wouldn't order a different phone (like the iPhone), so DON'T BELIEVE THEM

Just want to share my experience...
I actually ordered the phone(s) online via letstalk.com.
The prices were a lot cheaper and shipment was very fast!
I got two Droids completely free, one LG Ally not only free, but with a $50 mail-in-rebate, and my Droid X for only $149.99 with no mail in rebates or anything like that. So, four Android devices for only $149.99 and free shipping!!!!
My Droid X was originally scheduled to ship on August 16, but to my surprise, I received it on August 9!!! The order was placed on July 30. I recommend this website to everyone.
Good luck with getting your Droid X. My experience with it has been mixed...I really love the original Droid form factor and would say the Droid X is at the very limit of a comfortable size for a phone. Some one-hand operations can be challenging, and I am not a small guy with tiny hands.

I ordered the Droid X from a Verizon store on August 1st and was told when I called customer service on the 2nd that my ship date would be August 5th. I called today since I had received no shipment verification and was told that the shipment date has been pushed to the 23rd of August. I am very much disappointed with the level of service provided by this company. I will never do any business with them again. Had I known or at least been told initially about the delay in shipment I would of never purchased this phone. I eagerly await receiving my phone, but I don't expect to receive it anytime soon. The least they could of done is provided some incentive to Verizon customers for having them wait on receiving PAID orders instead of placing the blame on the manufacture and expecting customers to sit on their hands waiting for an item they have already paid for in full. As soon as my contract is up with Verizon I intend to cancel my plan with them. Very bad experience!

What is really weird is I orderered mine in the corporate store on 07/30/2010 and received it on 08/04/2010. It was purchased non-subsidized. Have a co-worker that ordered hers and got it about 5 days later also... but hers was under contract.
Seems like there is not rhyme or reason on the shipping.

I ordered on 8-1 at the corporate store and they said it would ship on 8-18. Ive seen nothing on my online account that the order has been placed or received any e-mails. Verizon staff seem pretty straight up though so Iam not going to bug them till the 18th. I was told that the droid X and incredible use the same processor and that TI was having problems meeting the demand for their processors to motorola and HTC..

Incorrect actually, the Droid X uses the TI processor and the Incredible uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. I have heard rumors that the issue with supply is with supplying parts to produce the phone; not the capacity of Motorola to pump out and ship as many as possible. A friend at Intel says there are only two producers for the Droid X display components...and they are maxed out at the moment. Can anyone else corroborate?

VZW store rep said the same thing it is the screen on the X and the Incredible that the manufacturer is having problems keeping up with she said it would be about a 3 week wait. If they keep pumping them out as they come in I am fine with that.. I expected to have a wait for mine, I had already been waiting since May when the VZW rep told me to wait about 2 months for this one to come out. expected ship date now moved up to the 24th, which I expected.

I called tech support on August 3rd for issues with my motorola droid. Instead of them sending me a 7th replacement phone, they allowed me to order the droid X. I was told it would ship on Friday, August 6th and I would receive an email within the hour with order confirmation. Never got the email.
Called on the 4th just to confirm, he said the order was in there and that it will ship on the 6th as Tech Support told me. Cool.
Called this morning to see if it had shipped yet and if there was a tracking number, the lady told me it still hadn't shipped but is set to and to call back after 4pm for a tracking number. 😃
I called at 7:30pm for the tracking number, lady told me that all 3 previous employees lied to me because this phone isn't going to ship until August 19th and that all the reps before her knew that. Now they wont do anything except make me wait until August 19th, and I still have to put up with the defective phone until then!

The first droid 3 i got took 9 days to ship to my house and i was able to track it from day one, but it died the second day i had it.
Took it back and orderd another one after getting the run around for 4 days of non stop yapping with people who can't hardly speak any english.
Still waiting for the shipment order to be packaged, so it hasen't even been registered yet after 5 days of calling.
They say every time "we're sorry, the order number won't be tracked until the phone has been boxed and scanned first. It should be doon this afternoon.Check then" pft...
So im guessing until the tracking number goes through it will still be another 9 days of waiting......
Already getting close to switching carriers.

something people need to keep in mind is that as per FTC rules, anything you buy online or over the phone (i.e. from a mail order merchant) the company CANNOT claim an item will ship on or that you will receive on a specific date. They can only estimate your shipping date and if they tell you that you will get your product on a specific calendar date, then they have viloated the FTC Mail Order Rule. Verizon must follow this if they are selling online or over the phone. I work for a mail order merchant and they pound that rule into us, regardless of whether we as an employee actually sell product or not. I have had to take compliance testing every year to make sure I am aware of it, even though I do not sell product. The FTC can investigate a company if they have enough complaints to warrant and show that a merchant is potentially committing a violation, and if they find through their investigation that there has been a violation, they can levy a very HUGE fine against Verizon and potentially keep them from doing business.
