Yes in Southern Vermont, since yesterday afternoon.  I called support this morning and the only thing they told me was it is being worked on.  Several hours later still nothing.

I'm having the same data connection issues in central Ohio.  No LTE or 3G available where it normally is OK.  Not sure if it is related but on Sunday evening neither my daughter nor I could not receive photo attachments through normal texting either.  It would say something like "data not available".

This is an issue with the Bionic in general. An update to fix this (among other things) is rumored to be coming in November.

Thanks for posting zr500rider!

Sorry you are having problems with the data connection on your DROID BIONIC!

Our Product Support Team are aware of this issue, and are working diligently to provide our customers a permanent fix.  In the meantime, a workaround would be to either power cycle the device or you can enable and disable airplane mode to restore the data connection.

I trust I have addressed your concerns.

Unfortunately I'm not able to scroll through all of the subsequent posts and replies in the thread.  Thank you for letting us know about the workaround.  It's now several months later and my new Bionic has the same problem: multiple bars but will not have a data signal unless I'm using WiFi.  Was Verizon able to come up with a fix or are we still toggling into and out of airplane mode?

Thanks

The soon-to-be-released update .902 is in final testing.  Testers who had connection trouble before .902 are reporting that their connection problems are gone or much-reduced with .902.

Your connection troubles may be gone soon.

My System Version is 5.9.902.XT875.Verizon.en.US. Is that the .902 you're referring to? Still, I rarely have a good 3G data connection.

Same problem here.  Never had any problems with my first Droid that only did 3G.

I read a good article about why Verizon has problems with ALL 4G phones and why they had to switch to using SIM cards.

I never had any problems with my Bionic not having data unless on WiFi until two days ago when I went over my minutes for the first time in 5 years.  They temporarily blocked my calls, data and texts so I would have to call them.  When they unblocked my service, I had a connection for about five minutes and then nothing since.

I've talked to tech support twice and have removed the battery and sim card, done the 60 seconds off with no battery and held down the power button (which, by the way, does absolutely nothing, according to Motorola since there is no battery in the phone...), tried airplane mode, turned data roaming on and off, etc., etc.

So, I guess I'm pay $30 a month extra for data connectivity that I can't use.

What further upsets me is that I just bought a car dock for the phone so I could retire my 10 year old GPS which has never had a problem.  The phone GPS needs data to work, my dedicated GPS doesn't.  Well, I use my GPS every day and I was out in an area where I had no idea where I was when this problem decided to kick in.  Luckily I had my trusty old GPS with me.  It just pissed me off.  $108 a month for a phone that data doesn't work on and I only get 450 minutes? WTF???

I have version 5.9.905.xt875.Verizon US and I am still having the problems discussed here and else where.

I had same problem come up on the 16th after owning the phone since it was released.  Two things I did that worked or was coincidence was to take out the battery and press the on/off button for 30 seconds, then reboot.  Tech support had me go to settings/battery & data manager/data delivery and check data roaming.  I have been good since. There are other postings by vzw people that they are working on this.  I just hope it's a software or network issue, not hardware.

Well, my connection just blipped out so you can basically ignore my previous post.  We just keep yelling until they fix it I guess.

I have done that at times and sometimes it immediately works but then sometimes it doesent work as quickly. Sometimes after I go into ap mode and out it takes 5 min for it to go to 3g or something never 1x. Its 3g - 4g or nothing with little x on top of the bars and sometimes a triangle above. It happens les when u power it off compared to shutting off network. What's the difference between airplane and shutting off network?

Joey, how do you know this?

I'm probably the last guy to ask since I gave up on my Bionic already, but I find your claims that the Bionic "can't be fixed" to be of a dubious nature. But for those that are holding out hope, please state how you know this. We aren't talking about the time frame, just your claim in general.

I meant it can't be fixed now. If it could we would not be complaining. We have a dubious promise of a future fix, they dont' know if that will work because they don't know if it is software or hardware. If you are still in the time frame to return this phone, why would you want to keep it?

For me it is not only Annoying but has other potential fall out. I need to either have someone read results to me or I get them in an email that most of the time when I need it doesn't come up unless on Wi Fi.

Loss of 3 and 4g is really a big problem when you depend on your phone for more than a toy. Honestly it is mostly a toy now since I can't depend on VZW to deliever a reliable device or signal. Now with loosing the phone signal it is really getting bad. This is my 3rd phone and simm.

Who are u saving by returning it joey? this phone isent as bad off then the thunderbolt. U can't say that isent true. Doesent even gave gingerbread and might not get ics. It isent a bug deal if it worked. I love bionic better. The person who bought the phone obviously needed a phone. Any phone can be saved especially a keyboard issue. They just fixed Droid x with an update.

Or any issue can be resolved. But no data is bad.

Ok, so it's not just me. I'm in Maryland and yesterday I got a connection error. The first time it happened, I just closed the browser and then opened it again and was fine. The second time, I had to power off and then back on to restore connection to the internet. At least I know it's not my specific phone. Hopefully this rumored update in November will do the trick!
