My Music no longer plays on my DROID. I discovered this when I noticed my phone ringtone was not playing. When I try to play it or any other song on my playlists I get a message that says "Sorry, the player does not support this type of audio file"...but my songs all worked just FINE before the update. I also tried to play a movie trailer video tonight and it wouldn't play...and my phone has frozen up several times. I want to know what Verizon is doing to fix these issues!

I use to work at Apple Computers in Cupertino and believe me they're no better. Every carrier is having some kind of problem with software and hardware. Just keep complaining to them until they do something about it. See if you can exchange the phone for another new one.

My only concern doesn't seem all that important now that I have read all the other issues.
I don't like that after the update the phone goes into power save mode no matter how I am using it. Let me explain. I feel like there is no good reason for the phone to go into power save when it is conected to the docking station. I have the live aquarium desktop and like to place the phone in the docking station under my computer monitor while I am at work. Before the update this was not an issue. I would like to see a change that allows me to turn off power save mode when the phone is docked.

Since upgrading to 2.2 last Thursday I have found that my Home screen refresh is super slow. I can be in an application close it and it takes close to 5 seconds before I see the icons on my Home screen. Same for when I slide out the keyboard and it changes orientation.
With all these issues in 2.2 being reported, I sure hope there will be a bug fix update in 2.2.

I have had many issues since the update last week. So, yesterday I could not turn on my phone at all!! Even when I put the charger on it, it would not turn on. So, I had to go to the Verizon store. The guy there told me that he had the same issue with his Droid and had to send it back for a replacement. I am doing the same. Should have my replacement tomorrow afternoon. Sure hope this one works!!

The forced install to update (the message would not stop popping up until i installed) has substantially reduced my usability and functionality of my droid. I'm extremely disappointed that I'm not using a phone all day, everyday for work and some personal use that I'm now stuck with b/c apparently I'm not eligible for even a discounted upgrade until mid next year. Don't they usually offer at least some discount after 1 year? I can't pay the over $500 to get a newer droid and I was told by customer service at verizon (who confirmed with Motorola) that you can't undo the install. The internet is slow. It takes all web pages forever to load and search. Text message viewing is vague and it's difficult to tell when they messages are new (the highlighting/unlighting) makes the view of it less clear. When you search contacts you have to tap into the box when you go to search contacts in order for the keyboard to pop up - shouldn't it do this automatically if you're searching (a minor issue I know but has to be in with all others at this point). The GPS navigator stops talking to me if I move into another section of application outside of maps. I have to go back into the maps function to make the voice start talking to me again. The phone does not vibrate when it's on silent even though I have it selected for it to always vibrate. And then sometimes it doesn't vibrate even when I have the sound on. I can't listen to voicemails in my email (this has always been an issue - even before the update). I make fun of iPhone-ers b/c everybody knows iPhones suck. Now I feel like I'm stuck with a phone that I really liked before - and now it sucks. Forgive the term but it most accurately describes the functionality of the phone now that it's been "updated." I think nonsensical upgrades (changing things just for the sake of it) are ridiculous and most of the time unnecessary. If it's not broken, don't fix it. Just fix the original issues for which you received complaints. Don't change anything else.....it will backfire. It's more difficult to open email attachments, if they open at all, which is most of time - instead I get an error. The camera sucks now. The pictures are blurry and the color is bad. It takes forever for pics to load when you want to view them. The phone reboots itself out of nowhere. I'm sure I'm leaving out some issues but I have them all into customer service. This sucks. Unless someone is customer service decides to give me a break on an upgrade, I'm stuck. Just like the iphoners-with a phone that sucks.

I really should've started a Droid Support Business prior to the update.
Don't like Froyo and want to go back to 2.1? Done, we can do that.
Stuck on the lovely Motorola "M" of death? We can fix that.
Want to delete those pesky verizon apps? Yup, do that too.
Tired of being locked down by Verizon? No problem
lol

There's been a bunch of threads talking about fixes/possible fixes for all the issues you've enumerated. Since I had some of the same issues you had when I did a manual install, I can tell you that I fixed mine by doing a couple of battery pulls and removing Advance Task Killer. If it worked for me, it might work for you.

I just uninstalled TasKiller and rebooted my phone. The Home screen refresh is much better, faster response.

I'm having that same problem with the Home screen being super slow. And it's driving me crazy!! I hope there's a bug fix update, too.

Got bored last night and sbf'd back to stock 2.0.1 to see if I would run into any of the problems with the official update. Took all of 5min to go from my custom froyo rom to out of the box 2.0.1. Upon first boot, I signed into the google account, went to manually check for an update and noticed that FRG01B was already downloading. No issues with installation or getting the "M" of death. Do note that I cleared off all the data and did a factory reset on the phone before reverting back to 2.0.1 so I didn't have any apps installed that could possible interfer with the update. Also it took me from stock 2.0.1(ESD56) to 2.2 (FRG01B) so it's possible it could be something in 2.1 causing an issue but who knows.
Things I've noticed:
- No issues with GPS fix on google maps
- No homescreen redraws yet (using ADW Launcher instead of stock)
- Handcent does flash the LED but only if the screen is off (google implemented the no led while screen is on in 2.1 to save battery)
- Camera loads fast with little shutter lag. Pictures are still blah, no better or no worse than before though
- Gallery and Music player see media fine
- Hadn't noticed it before but the 3G signal strength seems to have taken a hit with the FRG01B as it's definitely weaker now compared to stock 2.0.1, likely due to the change in basebands
- Manually reinstalling all of my apps was a pain.

Any chance you have TasKiller app installed?
The reasons I ask is because I have heard others mention an issue with TasKiller. But, one thing that is interesting is that I have a co-worker whose boyfriend has a Samsung Android phone running 2.1 and he has the same issue we have, slow Home screen refresh. He was also experiencing the exact same issue as I that it was happening all the time and once he and I uninstalled TasKiller it was only happening intermittently.
The most interesting thing about this is that he is still using Android 2.1. It's too bad he is using a Samsung and not a Droid 1 because that just throws another problem into the equation in that he is using different hardware. It would help to troubleshoot the issue better if he was using a Droid 1.
I'm almost of the opinion that it is not an Android issue but an application issue.
Here is a list of applications I am using and maybe we can find a like issue:

My other concern is that since if it was an issue with TasKiller, I uninstalled it. Maybe there are some trace elements of TasKiller still hanging around on my device that could still be causing the issue, again, if it is a TasKiller issue.

I frankly haven't had any substantial performance issues with 2.2 - disabling the screen-change animations (which I don't have much use for anyway) made the phone measurably faster even though I wasn't annoyed with the screen action before. I saw a note on another board guessing that FRG10B included a slight CPU speed increase that's making some phones more unstable than others. Mine's stable - I can't complain except for one item;
The only serious 2.2 "bug" I have that NEEDS fixing is the inability of the new mail app to access Exchange servers. I've tried every variant on logins, SSL and the like and I still can't get through to the server of a nonprofit I work with.
On 2.1, entering user name, password and domain was all that's needed and it auto-configures like a snap. 2.2 flatly refuses to connect, even though the three POP accounts I use (thank heavens my business account isn't on Exchange) work swimmingly.
If I used that Exchange account for work, I'd be as homicidal as I've read others as being. It NEEDS FIXING via updates ...
P/S ... What kind of Droid Forum offering a spell check doesn't include "Droid" in the local dictionary????

Dang that is a lot of apps!
How much free internal memory do you have left on your Droid? Go to Settings SD Card and Phone Storage and look at Internal Memory Storage - Available Space...
My wife had so many apps with less than 50 MB free that Froyo wouldn't even install. She since noticed that her Droid runs a lot better since she freed up internal memory space over 100 MB.
Something to look at...
Don't need every app out there. Like the "flashlight", want to see in the dark without the app just open the Google Home page, requires no additional memory usage.
Best regards,
Erick

I have 106MB available.
I probably should move everything to the SD card, especially the Nook app. It's the largest taking up almost 18MB.

I have 43apps (technically 41 since 2 are licenses) installed with about 170MB still available for phone storage and usually 30-50MB of ram at any one time. Maybe 3 have been moved to the SD Card as they're the only ones that are compatible so far. No stability or speed issues

Interestingly enough, installing ADW Launcher fixed my problem. I no longer have a Home screen refresh problem. And, on top of that, ADW Launcher is a MUCH better launcher than the default that comes with Android 2.2.

You can try Alarm Clock Plus v2 in the market. It's free and looks like the regular multimedia dock but allows you to set the screensaver timeout to never.

I actually had the same issue, but it was for my movie files. None of them would play, even if some were recorded by the camera from the old version. I'm not sure if this is how I fixed it, but after I did it, everything worked fine.
Plug the phone to your computer and connect via the USB connection. Go into the folders where your songs are kept and move a song or 2 around from the phone to the computer and vice-versa. Disconnect, turn off your phone and do a battery pull. When you turn your phone back on, it should read your songs normally again.
Hopefully, this helps.
