DROID X ON MACBOOK

Ok, so before the 2.3 update I was able to open my music from my droid x and play it on my itunes on my MacBook, but after the update none of my files will open up. It shows the device connected, the folders, but no files in the folders. Does anyone know what I'm supposed to do? Thanks!

The Motorola site offers a free download of a application "Motorola Media Link" which will enable you to easily move and sync music, photos, and video between your computer and your Android phone. Let us know if you still have a problem after using that application.

Do you need to download that if you have the micro usb flash drive? I've taken the sd card out of the phone and inserted it into the flash, and the computer recognizes it, but it says there are no items. How to I get my photos on the sd card? Other threads seem to indicate that I need a file app. Is that true?
