DROID X crashed screen icons-apps- are missing. Mainly my google toolbar.

This weekend my DROID X phone locked up and turned off and on several times on its own.  It would power up with the M on the screen and make a lot of clicks and tadunk noises like it was trashing things.  I finally changed out to a new battery and when I took the other battery out, i noticed the sticker to the left of the gold prongs had lost its little X's on it.  Did it fry the battery?  Next when i put in a new battery I noticed it lost a lot of the "desktop" icons.  I restored some of what I could find such as the WIFI, AirpPlane Mode, Bluetooth, and GPS, however why did they all dump in the first place?  Next the google toolbar is gone.  I've tried to reinstall it and I keep just getting the G icon not the toolbar.  Any suggestions as to how to restore it and as to why this happened?  I found out from another friend that her Droid 2 did the same thing.

It appears that your information isn't clear enough, a number of terms sound unrelated to the device and it will be a little hard to give a correct reply with information given....   You can always hard reset the device to restore device to stock that will restore all missing apps.  As for the situation of the information being corrupted there is a number of items that could cause files to become corrupt, apps, improper shutdown or even something accessed off a website, without knowing the situation that happened that lead to the issue figuring out a nature of a issue like this can be hard.

Try this solution.. Backup all personal information first..

.Also before this occured during the day of the incident. My camera had quit working.  It kept just flashing the screen and not ever opening the camera to take a picture, then I took out the battery and reset it and it worked for one picture taking and then it died again and would not let me use the camera.   I had been texting with someone then walked away from the phone came back and the screen wouldnt come back up, so i then took out the battery and put it back in, then i noticed the battery had a sticker that came off of it so i thought uh oh.. it fried for some reason. i decided to put in the new battery and the phone booted up but only with the M on the screen it took several attempts for it to finally come back on and when it did come back on where i could scroll through the desk tops and the settings, i noticed it had dumped a few things.  I have gone back and looked at the apps that I downloaded recently (within the past week) and even deleted some after researching just to see if that would help.  It did not.  I have considered doing the factory reset however i have been trying to make sure my 'backup' has been completed first.  My number one question is without the factory reset how do I get the google seach bar back?  I was able to locate and reinstall several of the ones, like i previously mentioned just not the google search bar.

1. how do i get the google searchbar back

2. why does the camara keep locking up and not working? What to do?

3. Could it have really been the battery ?  I have a friend that started having the same problem at nearly the exact time as me.  Could we have shared something via text message or something that would have done some type of damage to our phones?  Is that possible?

Does this help any better with trying to diagnose my issues?

This weekend my DROID X phone locked up and turned off and on several times on its own.  It would power up with the M on the screen and make a lot of clicks and tadunk noises like it was trashing things.  I finally changed out to a new battery and when I took the other battery out, i noticed the sticker to the left of the gold prongs had lost its little X's on it.  (Not sure what sticker you are speaking of, cant find X's on battery or phone next to prongs) on the battery there is a white piece of paper there was a clear sticker on top of it that has 4 red X's on it.  That clear sticker with the 4 Red X's on it came off the white paper that is to the side of the prongs on the battery.  The clear sticker with the red X's stuck to the black piece of rubber  in the phone next to the gold prongs IN the phone. Both Batteries I have, i bought directly from the VERIZON WIRELESS STORE. The second battery still just has the white piece of paper next to the four gold prongs but there are not any red X's on this piece of paper as there were on the one that I took out when i started having the problems.  Could the 4 red X's be a sign of a melt down of that particular battery?   Did it fry the battery?  Next when i put in a new battery I noticed it lost a lot of the "desktop" icons (I am thinking you are speaking on the homescreens).Yes the home screens sorry for misunderstanding  I restored some of what I could find such as the WIFI, AirpPlane Mode, Bluetooth, and GPS, however why did they all dump in the first place?  Next the google toolbar is gone(There isnt a Google Toolbar app on the device, are you speaking of Market) Im not speaking of a app.. there was once a Google searchbar... I said tool bar and i suppose I meant searchbar.. that shows up just as if you were searching the internet on a computer... I've tried to reinstall it and I keep just getting the G icon not the toolbar.again i meant search bar.like when you type in the search bar on a computer. (I looked through the device and I cant find any apps that has a icon with just a G as a icon) a type of Google search on my phone in the apps is a blue box with a white G on it and it opens up google on my phone when i select it.  I presumed it was that way when i got the phone i cant remember...it had the google searchbar and the little voice microphone icon to the right of the searchbar... its the app where you could just talk to it and it'd search the internet...  Any suggestions as to how to restore it and as to why this happened?  I found out from another friend that her Droid 2 did the same thing.

The white sticker with little red +'s is a water damage indicator.

Oh, I was overlooking that all together, yes you are correct, that is the water damage indicator and if that is missing then that means the device has been exposed to some moisture and that isn't a good thing because Verizon and Motorola use that as proof of water damage of the device..  Also this could have been the nature of the device crashing.

Im glad you all finally found the sticker.. I called X's... that you all call +'s...  tomato tomatoe... :smileyhappy:  I understand that its a moisture indicator... however it has not been exposed to any moisture, I promise.  when it crashed or before I started having the issues and the same thing occurred to my friends phone nearly at the same time over the weekend.   the sticker stuck to the rubber part on the phone, however it was like it just got really HOT and melted off.  I have recovered mostly every thing now with the assistance of these forum's and greatly appreciate you all and your input.  The only thing that didnt occur and I promise this on my love of the droid.. there was not ever any moisture exposure to the phone, I take dear pride and care to make sure its always protected.  Thanks again for all the suggestions and input.  So far so good.

It doesn't take much moisture at all to set those little things off. Condensation from having it in a cold car and then bringing it into a warm house is enough to do it if the sticker is exposed.  It doesn't mean that that would hurt your phone though.  It sounds like your battery just got very low, but it's still odd that it would delete your shortcuts..  *shruggs* you never know though.
