So, I don't log into this forum for a few days, and now everyone has the 2.2 update? I haven't gotten any notification yet? Am I supposed to wait for it, or is there a way to initiate the update download myself?

U can pull update ur self. Just go to settings - about phone - system updates & u should be able to get it. If u get the not avail. message go ahead & turn the wi - fi on, or u can even do that before trying to save a step. That's what worked for me. Also, I had (50%) showing on batt. when I started & it dwnld (took about (5-10) mins.) & updtd. (took about (10-15) mins.) also, w/ (50%) still showing. I would definitely make sure u have @ least that much. If not make sure u chrg. it up. Also, it was suggested to me to no keep it plugged into chrgr, that may have caused some of the issue some are having w/ it locking up on updt. Hope thi helps, good luck.

On your phone, go to: Settings/ About phone/ System updates and it should say there is an update to download.

I've heard/read the update causes serious difficulties. what is the advantage of updating now? I thinking of keeping life simple and not updating until the complaints stop.

I've also seen what's been posted. That sucks! I know how all those folks are feeling, having issues after the update. I was going thru that prior w/ the original bugs. Hopefully they're able to get their issues straightened out very quickly, & also, that vzw & moto comes thru to make that as painless as can be. That's usually my kind of luck, when it comes to me & electronics. I'm usually the (1), that after every(1) else has updated & is having a ball w/ their electronics, I'd be on about my (6th) try w/ no success & major issues. Fortunately for me it's working just fine for me so far. I'm also extremely happy that (I happen to like vz nav. & don't mine paying for it) the vz nav. is now updtd. to (ver. 6) & the voice strmng. thru blth is fixed & working great. The only neg. so far for me is, that after figuring out a way to get my contacts to sort by last / first on X thru gmail, they're now back to being sorted by first / first again, & the way I did it before doesn't seem to be working this time. Hope this gives u a little more info to think about & help u make ur decision, good luck.
Well I personally like to stay on the "bleeding" edge of things. <g> Actually I haven't had the first problem with my DroidX. Before or after the 2.2 update. As someone said, the percentage of people with problems is likely very low considering the numbers sold. And this would be the place to try to find answer if someone has a problem. So.....
If I had experienced problems with my DroidX from the beginning, I might have been a little apprehensive, but so far, so good.
