Gingerbread on DX:
Looks like Swype's got issues dealing with selected words.
Select a word (tap once, long press, choose Select Word from the menu), then try replacing the text by swyping something else.
Rather than replacing the selected text, the new text gets appended to the text you want to replace, no spaces in between.
This happens across multiple apps (texting, gmail, search box, Note Everything, etc.).
Don't know that Swype has ever issued an update to a preinstalled copy.
Ooops.

Thank you for your feedback. Perhaps in a suggestion to help with the Swype issue, try installing a newer Version of the App to see if this can update and correct matter. The reviews on the newer version have help many users of Swype address the issue. I am providing a link for you to reference and assist your further: http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-apps/13943-new-swype-version-here-ready-download.html . I hope this helps.

Yes, I see that as well ... I think SWYPE has gone downhill of late. I struggle with it more so than not anymore. I try to enter numbers, and I seem to always now get appended letters them .. e.g., I swype "21" and I get "21st" ...

@EdW_VZw - Actually the current SWYPE version is not what you linked in your post ... Your link is 2.15.56.14870
The latest version is 2.50.72.21318.21326
At least that's what is on my GB version. So I think you'd be downgrading anyone that goes to your link.

Honesly, I'm not trying to knock Swype, but I don't know how people can use it. I tried it out and struggled to make a sentence with it. It's a really cool technology, but I'm much better at tapping the letters than trying to make some crazy, swirly thing to make a word.. But that's just me...

Galaxy80, like anything, it's something that takes some getting used to. I can use it now without looking, but it always requires proofreading to correct the errors . Something the tutorials even mention (errors are inevitable).

@Galaxy80
If you like the tap tap style of keyboard, you could try SwiftKey if you haven't already.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I haven't tried it yet. I've been up in the air about replacing my keyboard, but I might try it. I just got Handcent this morning and I love it!

Handcent is awesome as well. Just wanted to add that downloading SwiftKey doesn't get rid of your normal keyboard. It just adds the extra option in Keyboard & Language settings. You can go back to the normal keyboard at any time, it's really nice!

SwiftKey is amazing. I can't stand Swype, drove me crazy. SwiftKey learns how you "speak" and predicts what your next word is. It's gotten to the point that I can type about 2 or 3 words, and SwiftKey predicts the rest of my sentence. Makes it very easy and fast to text.

I'm doing this on it the SwiftKey X Beta right now. That last sentence took 9 key presses. I am blown away by this.
I was a Swype devotee and had no reason to change, but I wanted to try something new and different. It's safe to say that I found it...

I'm still debating on whether or not I want to spend $2 for Swiftkey. I found the option to turn off the word predictor on the stock keyboard on Gingerbread in the keyboard settings. Gingberbread doesn't have a clue as to what I'm about to say at any time lol. Great OS, bad psychic...

MRMRM513,
I have researched your Swype issue and I don't see this exact issue with not inserting spaces as a known issue. I would suggest clearing your cache by going to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Swype>Clear data/cache/force close.
