Dash friction mount for Droid car mount?

Anyone using a dash friction mount to hold the Droid car mount? I have looked at several on Amazon from $10 to $30. I would rather not mount the Droid car mount to the windshield. I like the idea of being able to position the Droid on the dashboard. Looking at the items on Amazon it is not obvious how the Droid car mount plate would fit in the friction mount. Most mounts are for GPS units that are larger than the Droid.

target sales them for the Garmin. if you are having trouble determining the area needed for the suction cup to fit, maybe you should try there to get your dimensions..

however, the bean bag is a good idea. i have a garmin and the suction cup just wore out, every time the device would fall from the windshield.

the horror if that would ever happen to my droid
