Data Plans going bye bye

Verizon is going to change its data plan, so they say. The $30 infinite amount of data will be gone. I do cruise the net (data), get new apps (data), etc. It will be interesting to see how much the data plans will change. I also wonder if we, who have contracts, will lose our data plans (breach of contract?). Does anyone know any more about this?

The Thuderbolt plans are still showing the unlimited data plan so it is unknow where this may go but I am sure that if a user is on contract and the plans do change it will not effect the ones on contract because they should get grandfathered into the plan until the user updates device or contract, at that point they will fall under the new contract which would change the game....

I have heard about the change coming but I have decided to worry about it when it hits because the changes they will make is going to happen if I worry or not.

Apparently new customers and those up for renewals can get the Thunderbolt on an unlimited plan. But, "this summer" is the time-frame I've heard for unlimited data plans going away.

Fortunately, wifi limits my data usage, but rumors of initial speeds tests of Verizon's LTE on the Thunderbolt may tempt folks to ditch their wifi for even faster speeds and higher bills, once the unlimited plans go away.

I'm sure those already in a contract will have those contracts honored, but I don't speak for Verizon, nor would anything surprise me.

My guess (and that's all it is) is that any data change plans would be for new customers, and those with existing unlimited data would be left alone- grandfathered in if you will.

I wouldn't want to be anywhere near Verizons customer support if they do decide to yank the unlimited plan from existing customers.   I wouldn't go worrying about a class action breach of contract lawsuit just yet.

Something to add to the mix Fellers say you want one that is a T-Bolt your contract does'nt end till say 2012 an you have the  Unlimited plan an you Decide to Pay the full 599. for it.  Just swamp out you old phone for the T-bolt.  Like my Plan it's a old Alltel Plan just  like Budone has.  makes you wonder what they'ed do there. An my plans don't expire untill sometime in 2012.   But if I was to come up with the full amount for the T-bolt  I wonder how they'ed look at that.  An would they force me to a new Contract  an Bust up the one were're currently  on. Interesting is'nt. it !!!  :smileyvery-happy:

if you are just swapping out phones it dont change the contract at all, just changes teh phone. If you buy the phone out right you are just swapping phones. If you use an upgrade you are changing contract dates and that is when things start to change

Well its like this Verizon has maid many changes allready . And that does'nt mean that they could stop there As i was told by a Verizon Employee that i've known for Years. And the Plan we have are Phones on. in her mind are one of the best but with these new phones coming out its a hole new ballgame. an i asked her if i would purchase a T-bolt at full retail could it cause a change

in our Data plan an she said as of now or if i would buy one tomorrow it's possible it would remain unchanged Two Weeks from now that could change she said were hoping they give us till mid summer.  but are hand are tied we sell them as they are and the data plans as they are an if they change. We have to sell them that way. So as said in my earlier post i dont know whats

around the Corner an you Dont Eather an i bet if a Verizon employee read this He or she would possibly say the same thing. But we all Know this the CEO of Verizon Knows and the Board of Directors Know But there not going to say Anything until there ready too. And when they Do we'll all Know Then. :smileyvery-happy:  An at time we can decide if want Ketchup on our French Fries. Or Not.! :smileyvery-happy:

From what I heard the trick is when you switch to a LTE supported device there will be diffrent plans for these devices that will be the way you will be forced to change contract either way (Full Price or Updated Discount), this is how they did with upgrading to a iphone at AT&T, if user was on "Pay As You Go" and changed to a iphone bought from friend the device required a special plan so only way to use device they had to update plan..

Got to love the marketing and lawyers... :smileyvery-happy:

Basically if you pay full price for a device and isn't getting a discount for a contract renewal your plan normally wont change at all, what ever is your remaining contract terms it will remain the same until you renew a contract or get a discount on your contract, then you may get changed over to new contract that may not include the unlimited plan.

I may be able to help on this on....ive been with Big Red for a while and my girlfriend was Altell.....she was under the 1200 minute plan thru Altell w/ Blackberry plan......She tried my old droid out and we switched over the computer and she was able to keep her old plan.....after playing angry birds on my droid x (bigger screen for the birds to fly...lol) I bought her a X. Once again we switched over the computer and its been 2 months and they still have honored her contract.  Btw it has expired and she still has it!

Thanks to the community members for your feedback. However, at this time there is no information available that the data plans will be ever discontinued or that they will be changed. As long as we have Smartphones, Blackberries, etc, the data plans will be present and available to cover access, usage and device requirement arrangements, etc. We do have a link that can be signed up for to be advised about any new products and services being offered.

I am providing a link:

Thanks Again,
