I have a Moto Droid 2 that's in near-mint condition, and has been treated very well. No spills, no drops, nothing bad at all. So my problem is this: I woke up the other morning, and my phone was still powered on, but when I went to hit the power button to turn the screen on and check for missed calls/messages, nothing showed up on the screen. The touchscreen part still works, because if someone calls me, i can swipe my finger across where the answer button would be, and the phones vibrates a bit and then connects to the call. I can do this same technique and unlock the phone when first turned on as well, and if I really take my time and guess at things, I can even navigate myself all the way to the phone dialer screen, and dial a phone number using the slide-out keyboard.
The keyboard still lights up, the 4 main buttons just below the screen light up and provide haptic feedback, the phone still charges and illuminates the charge light, all the sound functions still work, and all of the touchscreen functions still work. I simply have nothing to look at on the screen at all. Even the backlight still works, but nothing actually shows up on the screen.
I have tried going through the forums on here for a solution, but there's really nothing to try beyond pulling the battery and waiting, charging it, doing these things in weird orders/combinations, etc. Does anyone have any information they can provide to me at all? I'm sure I'll just have to replace the phone, but for one, I'd rather not lose all of my info, and two, my local Verizon store is trying to charge me a $85 deductible because of the insurance I had on it, although this phone is less than a year old and should still be under warranty.
I've also seen a couple of Verizon representatives on this forum suggest the "hard reset" technique. That would make perfect sense to try, if people like myself - who are having this same problem - could actually see their screens. Is there a physical reset function on these phones, similar to what you'd see on older phones (ie: a button that you have to push in with a pencil tip)?
I hope someone on here has had this same problem, and knows how to fix it. If i have to reset my phone, fine. But I refuse to pay for a replacement when it's still under warranty. I doubt it's a problem with Verizon itself, but moreso the people who work at my local Verizon store.
