Dear Verizon - how long do you claim the battery will last with only intermittant usage?

SavannahsMommy

I'm thinking I have a defective phone because mine seems only to work for maybe 3 to 4 hours without needing a charge.

I haven't even used it much for 'talking' just facebook, searching apps on the android market, took a few pictures of my daughter, send 1 or 2 text messages. looked up my local news and thats it.

I have downloaded the task killer app and continue to click on the 'kill all' button when I am finished looking something up, reading the news, facebooking, ect.

On Task Killer, do you just hit 'kill all' and that's it?   When I do that a message pops up that says "task killer available memory 283MB"   I have to hit confirm and then it takes me into my call log which is strange.....

I have also had a screen issue I posted earlier where my screen, out of nowhere, would go dark with lines going down through it.  This happened twice at random and has not happened again.

The first time I used my phone I got 4 hours, but then i dl task killer and also the app that helps you control the brightness. It was the brightness... this screen is so big that if brightness is set to high or auto, it will drain your batt in around 4 to 5 hrs. AT least mine did the first time. The second charge and those changes yielded me around 8 hrs. Make sure bluetooth is off and wifi hogs alot of batt.

I just clicked on 'settings' and turned the 'brightness' all the way as far as it would go.  is this how I should do it?  or, is there an app that will turn it down even further?  Thanks for your reply :smileyhappy:

I think thats pretty much all we can do, oh also make sure email is not set to push, that drains it alot. They are going to start selling an extended batery soon. I guess this is the downside of having a phone with such a big screen :smileysad: I wonder if the sprint evo phone has the same issue. Im still quite happy with this phone, sorta..

According to phonescoop web site....

--Battery--

Talk: 8 hours max.   (480 minutes)
Standby: 220 hours max.   (9.2 days)

I would recommend getting the app called Power Manager Full for only 99 cents. That should extend the battery. You can always get the external battery too

There are not set in stone length claims.  A lot of it depends on your distance to the towers.  Being that this is an advanced phone, it's going to automatically seek out a 3G signal.  If you're not in an ideal location for 3G strength you could be pulling from a far away tower which will consume more power.  Even though it's a brand new device, I'd go ahead and use the *228 option 2 to update your PRL.  This could help if what I mentioned is causing battery drain for you.

My day 1 was just like that. 3 hours after charging it was in the yellow zone. I though goodness there is no way. So i turned the phone off and turned it back on and i *magically* had around 70 or 80 percent. I was like ok. It drained after that fairly quickly. **2 or so hours** to red zone. I was at work and NOT even using the phone. It was just on my desk. * no widgets/bluetooth/gps/acts of GOD/ running what so ever*. When i got home the phone died and would not turn back on untill it charged to a certain percent. I just turned the phone off and let it charge all night.

Day 2 was a little better. I unplugged the phone at 6am and went to work. I used the phone ALOT . By the time i got home. 3pm.ish I still had a little life left in the battery. But eventually it did die soon after i sat down. SOooooo i charged again. Day 2 with heavy use was lots better than day 1.

Day three. ((today :smileyhappy: )) the battery life is excellent. I mean excellent. Unplugged phone around 530-6 and went to work. Used phone alot. Browsed web, downloaded a few things, Showed off some video clips for soon to be x owners. Used maps a few times, talked for a total of maybe 15 minutes all day. I plugged my phone in around 6 or so this evening. **it was in the orange zone**

Im not saying its magic but the battery seems to get better with each passing day. (for me) I hope everyone else has the same outcome.

There are A TON of things you can do for the battery. Make sure your not running any GPS, WI-FI, or Bluetooth. Also, the 3 setting brightness: none, half, full. There are also TONS of task killer apps. My favorite is task panel x, but there is also advanced task manager and advanced task killer. All three of them are very nicely done apps. I haven't really had any experience with the battery saving apps. Good luck with those! lol. The last thing that I can think of is Settings -> Battery Manager -> Battery Profile.

Hope this helps everyone with their battery life, happy droiding!
