I think the answer is "depends" ... it depends on which Accounts you have activated. Your Contacts come down from Google Contacts & other social network site(s), like Facebook. If you REMOVE the Facebook Account (in Settings/Accounts), it will automatically remove all Facebook contacts from your phone. If you go online to your Google account, you can move contacts out of your "My Contacts" group to another group (e.g., make a group of contacts that you don't wish populated to the phone - call something like "Don't Copy" or whatever). The result SHOULD be that the next time you SYNC, those contacts shouold disappear on the phone. That's about the simplist I can think of..
Is that what you're asking to do? Hope this helps.

The reason I asked this question was that I upgraded to the Droid-x from my Droid. I am considering placing my Droid on Ebay and I thought it might be best to remove the contacts and any apps that might contain personal information. I have several such as Keeper, FlightStats, Email, Textmsgs, Facebook etc that I will remove. I thought that a selling point might be that it was loaded with lots of apps already downloaded and installed.
I believe that the best solution will be to do a Factory Reset before selling.

Ah, I see .... You didn't mention that little detail about selling it in your initial post ... In that case, I'd agree that a full factory reset would be best - but make sure you don't automatically pick up your Contacts from Google after doing so. Because after your reset and launching into the phone, you'll be promoted for your Google credentials, thus the contacts again.

To avoid things syncing up after a factory reset, just press "Skip" when the phone asks you to set up a Google account.
Actually, if you are selling it on Ebay, just let it reset, and once it is finished and giving you the arm-waving Android in the display asking you to activate the phone, just power it off. Don't even go through the activation procedure.

Plus if you are selling the SD card with the phone, don't forget to format the SD card as well.
Enjoy getting your money back!
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.
