I have placed a bar across the top of my home screen that contains 5 buttons, one dims the screen and I don't know what the other 4 do. I tap and hold this bar until the trash can appears then I drag it to the trash can but it doesn't delete it. I have also put a settings button on the home screen and it will not delete either. What is going on? Can someone help me.

You should read the stickied thread above to find out what they actually do, it may change your mind in wanting to actually remove the widget.
Regardless, what you should probably do is put your whole finger over the trash can as opposed to just seeing the widget go red. That's probably what's happeneing.

When you just receive your new phone, it is easy to add things that are not really helpful like the analog clock. I am really glad to get that off the screen.

Thanks for answering this for everyone. The key was waiting for it to turn RED. This info is no where in the user manual. I am having a blast with my new phone!!

That the "power control" panel. I was able to successfully able to remove it by what you did. I tap and held it down until the whole thing red and drag to trash

I finally called Verizon Wireless Tech, and the woman told me to hold it over the trash can until it turned red and then release. This worked, however nowhere in the manual or on the verizon "Interactive How to Simulator" does it say to wait until the trash can turns RED to release it. I asked her how she learned that and she said just from experience. These manuals for phones now a days are very lacking in instructions. I wish Motorola would write a more instructive manual. I don't care to have to download a manual if it was worth a darn. Thanks to ALL that responded to my question.
