Did I buy the biggest fail of an Android device?

I see day after day that the Charge and all the problems that people are having continue to be ignored with no update or eta on gingerbread and wonder if I made a grave mistake getting a Samsung unit.  I have a Samsung TV, Fridge, Microwave, and split AC / Heat unit upstairs and have had nothing but good from most of them (the AC has reset a time or two, but that seems to be fixed now).  I am impacted daily with issues with this phone though.  I wonder if it is just Verizon that is failing, and not Samsung.  This is getting old very fast.

That's the Wonder of Samsung.  Nothing new.  30 seconds of research would tell you they have the worst track record of updating devices in the US.

Are you having any problems?  My Charge phone has worked perfectly and in the 3 months I have owned it the two or three problems I discovered along the way were resolved quickly with the help of some of the others on this forum.  If you have a problem ask for help on this forum.

I have been reading the forums for a week or more.  I have the random reboots 2 - 3 times a week, on occasion more.  I called support and they had me do the factory reset (which after following the instructions of the tech, duplicated every contact after restoring from the flashdisk).  I also randomly get the bluetooth "I can hear them and they can't hear me" issue.  I have to end that call and call back everytime.  It happens with my earpiece and in my car's bluetooth handsfree.  I also get the stupid transition from wifi to 3g/4g and I lose all network connectivity.  I can get around that by going into airplane mode and back to normal most of the time IF I REALIZE IT DID IT.  It does it sometimes while the phone is not open/active.  Then I don't get emails/facebook updates etc all day.

I read this forum and see all kinds of problems, and then I read the bionic forum and they have some minor things but nothing like

the ones the Charge have. I have had my Charge since the week it came out, and I like the phone when it isn't randomly resetting when sitting on the counter or where I charge it, or in my pocket in the middle of a meeting (when that is full sound, even if you have it in silent mode).  Some of these issues have supposedly been corrected in the leaked gingerbread update, but I would rather wait for the official release.  Again, the leaked version was released weeks ago, and I think that was the 2.3.4 update, which has supposedly been changed to 2.3.5 now.  UGGGGGG.  It is enough to make me want to scream at verizon/samsung.

I also don't like that verizon FORCES you to keep the **bleep** bloatware that they preload.  I am not going to use guitarhero and all that other crap they put on the phone.  I don't know why they don't allow you to remove that crud.  I also love how it shows up under the needing to be updated, but doesn't tell you it is software that you DON'T USE.  I am going to reply to the post on that below, so that they see that everytime it says you have updates it to the stinking bloatware that no one want/uses.  There are so many additional 'issues' that no one here can do anything about, so I will save those.  It is the basic issues with the phone that frustrates me.

Namstol,

Here are some ideas for you.  It seems to be best NOT to turn on both WiFi and Mobile Data (3G/4G) at the same time.  I never have them both on at the same time, if for no other reason, just to save the battery.  Some folks have even reported that when they get a strong WiFi signal the Mobile Data (3G/4G) shuts down.  Try using one or the other but not both at the same time.

Re your reboots.  This may help but it Will not hurt.  Search this forum on the word BUMP.  Then read the post and BUMP CHARGE your battery to build up its reserve power because reboots may, and this is just a guess so don't hold me to it, happen more often when the battery's power is low.

I, too, am impatiently waiting for Gingerbread 2.3.5.  Come on Verizon where are you!

When the device is working properly, I love this phone.  That is the problem.  If it was as simple as me not liking the phone, I would ebay it and eat the cost of the bionic or another phone at full value.  I just want it to work as expected at least 90% of the time.  Right now it is at about 70% of the time, and I do not use a lot of apps or craziness.

Nexus is a google branded device. Those updates will be provided directly from google without samsung mucking it up and taking forever as samsung is just a hardware supplier like they were with the Nexus S.  Samsung makes good hardware but a child could probably manage their software better than their execs.

No release date.  Not really told anything in other words, but they did say that Gingerbread is actively being worked on.  I don't see it happening in the next week or two though, since they are still "working on it".

There have been quite a few gingerbread leaks dating back more than four months now. At this point, it would just be nice to get an update that fixes some bugs and improves performance, and the losing data and 1x, 3g, 4g cycling, that would be great!
