Difference between charging docks

I just picked up a Droid 2 and am thinking about getting one of the charging docks here on the Verizon site, though I'm not sure what the actual differences are between them. There's the original Droid "Multimedia Charging Station" which seems to be compatible with the Droid 2, and there's the new "Multimedia Charging Cradle XT" which says it "fits DROID and DROID 2 for hard covers and Extended batteries".
Does this mean the new "XT" model will only work well if you have a hard cover or extended battery on your phone (and be loose and/or not work if you don't have this extra bulk), or will it work well in either case? Both the new dock and the old dock are the same price, so I'm not sure which I should be going for. Anyone try out the new XT dock and have any advice?

I just bought one that says "Droid 2 Multimedia Station" (and underneath says Fits Droid 2/Droid by Motorola) and like it a lot , except for one thing. When I purchased it at the Verizon store, the saleswoman also suggested buying a case or cover for my new Droid 2 phone. She brought some over to me and I selected a snap-on cover. I got home and discovered that if I use the cover, my phone will not fit in the Multimedia Station. I wish she had told me that before I purchased the cover. I really liked it, but it's a pain to keep trying to take it on and off, just so I can dock/charge my phone.
Does anyone know if another phone's Multimedia Station (e.g., the one for Droid X) would fit a Droid 2 with a snap-on hard cover?
Thank you.

Sorry to waste your time. Didn't realize there was an insert to pull out. My case DOES fit in it.

Which answers the OP's original question - yes it will work with or without the hard case/cover - leave the insert in place for a phone without the cover; remove the insert if your phone has the cover.
Does this mean the new "XT" model will only work well if you have a hard cover or extended battery on your phone (and be loose and/or not work if you don't have this extra bulk), or will it work well in either case? I purchased Multimedia Charging Cradle XT right online from Verizon's website and when I received it it was actually the charging station...not the Multimedia Charging Cradle XT. I didn't want the charging station because I wanted to keep my cover on the phone while it charged. So I called Verizon and no one there could locate the Multimedia Charging Cradle XT in their system so I got put on hold for like 10 minutes while they checked with a supervisor and then the lady came back and said she had to check with the Internet team and then after another 10 minutes she said no one was able to tell me anything about the cradle XT and no one has heard of it. Amazing! Lady was nice...but geez...how does Verizon put something on its website and you can't orer it?? Anyway...the lady suggested I try to order it again online which is what I did. It'scoming tomorrow so we'll see what I receive.

I just found this topic reading some of the oldest in this forum. Did you ever get the XT charging cradle? How was it? I have been considering buying one for my new droid 2
