Do m4p encoded itunes songs play natively?
Is there an app to play them on the DX
Failing the above, is there a good/free converter?
Intent of course it to dump the Ipod and just th\use the Droid X for all things.
any mp3 or mp4 will play on droid x you just get use itunes. open everything using windows media player then sync it with your droid x

I am sorry I did not understand what you are saying here.
The clause "just get use itunes" is confusing to me. Is "Use Itunes" an app? Or, is it a Menu Item?
Hou do you get Windows Media Player to open Itunes music?
Would there be a differene in the Windows Media Player on my Win XP media Center and perhaps the Win Media Player on a Win 7 machine that would allow the win 7 to do what you are saying and not the Wim XP machine?
sorry about that. you cant use itunes with the droid itunes is an apple thing. just use windows media player once open go to add files/folders and add all your mp3...mp4 to windows media player. plug your dx into computer and sync everything will transfer to droid. is this music you got off the itunes store??? if so your out of luck...
Hate to appear so clueless here.
Does an Itunes track have an MP4 extension?
Will Tracks with an mp4 extension play natively on a DX.
If so, I should be able to just drag and drop into my music folder and play them either with Music or Meridian??? Right??
yes it will work....mp3 is your music mp4 is your video but both work on DX
well I did some googling and an MP4 isn't an Itune.
an Itune extension appears to be an M4P so I would need to convert from an M4P to an MP3 to get the DX to play it???
Is that right?
Yes
Ok then, thanks for your time.
you could go to the market and download doubletwist. that will sync with your itunes library.
Will Doubletwist convert the itunes to something playable on the Droidx or will it just play them as they stand?
You can also try downloading the VCast Media Manager onto your laptop/pc and it will let you sync ur music from your x and play with it just like the itunes library. It also has an option to let you import or export music between the x and the ipod. it's pretty easy ... i just did for my son last night. took less than 10 minutes. it is a good way to purchase music from and to only one source and share it on both the ipod and the x.
Thanks I'll give vcast media manager a shot.

Didnt think of this as a solution, I might give a try also.... Do you know if this will this work for M4V video files also?
V Cast Media Manager works great and it's very easy. BUT - all songs are listed on the phone in alphabetical order, in album view too. I called Verizon and they do not have any way to fix the sort on the phone. Everything is sorted correctly on the computer, just not in on the X. If anyone has any ideas .....
You can try also, Motorola Media Link from Motorola. works really well.
