Do yourself a favor
this is the full update it does a better job than the OTA
make sure and backup contacts and needed files this will put your phone back like new from Verizon this does not root your phone nor do you have to be rooted this is the official Full 2.2. update from Google
1. Download the update.zip file from . (DIRECT FROM GOOGLE.)
2. Drop the file on the root of your SD card. (Meaning, don’t put it in any folder.)
*MAKE SURE IT’S NAMED UPDATE.ZIP!
3. Turn your phone off.
4. Press and hold the Volume Down and Power at the same time to boot into HBOOT.
5. When the white HBOOT screen appears, use the volume button to move down to “RECOVERY.”
6. Press the Power button to select “RECOVERY.”
7. When the triangle and exclamation appears, hold the Volume Up and Power button at the same time.
8. Using the volume button, scroll down to “apply sdcard:update.zip” and select it.
9. Your phone will now update!
10. It could take some time, so be patient. When it reboots, you are on official 2.2.
Note
If you don't see the extention .zip just name it update some computers hide the file extention
either way it should only be named update.zip == not update.zip.zip

I posted this how to
Because i am tired of reading all the posts about how 2.2 messed up thier phone
OTA is OK but most people do not realize they need to hard reset afterwards to make sure the updates installs properly
This is the Official Update from Google
I purchased my Incredibles 3 weeksa ago and used this method as soon as they were fully charged they work perfect no issues.
Never used 2.1 at all on the Incredible.

is this the same update i have already downloaded and installed, or is there something different. The build number is the same. When I installed the update from my sd it did not restore the phone to factory settings. Do i need to install update agian or will this brick my phone.
Thanks

this is the same update...just through a different method. as far as i know, the only difference is that when complete, you are going to reset the device. if you got the OTA update and are not having issues, then there is no need to do this.

Just wanted to make sure. I never reset the device nor was I prompted to. Should I do a reset or not bother I'm not having any issues except the usual battery life.

If you have already updated this will do nothing this is for users still on 2.1
But in either case it is always good to do a couple hardresets to make sure it is a good clean install

Where on Google do you get the Android Update 2.2? I'm wanting to do the update but don't know where to get the initial download. I don't want the leaked one but the real legit one. Thanks.

I would assume this includes the full Bluetooth stack instead of the crippled stack released by HTC and should therefore allow me to connect my phone to my Mercedes ?
Thanks

This update has all the same blaotware.
If you havent tried to force your phone into updating itself, see the other thread for the way to trick your phone into updating. It has worked more times than failed AND it is the actual OTA.
(I, l;ike the OP, strongly suggest a factory reset when you update!)
