I had to give up my Droid X becuase it was not compatiable with the NETZERO POP 3 platform; I could receive emails but could not create new emails; could not see my contact emails address when I attempted to create emails, forward emails or send MMS..... i went through two Droid X's and three Verizon technicians who couldn't find a solution. Motorola even suggested that i use a third party email service, K-9, to access my Verizons answer; you must be the only person with a netzero email account!! You should switch to hotmail or yahoo!! Can anyone out there help; I love the Droid X for its browser speed over the Blackberry slug and prefer the 8.0 MP camera.......... Thanks!

BTW sending emails through gmail so far seems to work.
I know that this is no where near what your issues were, but you might have a point that there could compatibility issues the NETZERO isp.
You could also set up your gmail account to retrieve your NETZERO emails and use or transition to the gmail as your main email address. You are going to required to have the gmail account any way to use the google applications and the Market on the phone.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

What are the Netzero server addresses you currently have set up for incoming and outgoing? Here are the server addresses for Netzero.
- Incoming: pop.netzero.com
- Outgoing:authsmtp.netzero.com

I was at the Verizon store and the technician couldnt correct the issue. We went to the Motorola website and used the port numbers as indicated I/C email Port: 110 and O/G email port: 587. The test email came in from verizon but the outgoing couldnt go out; when we attempted to create a new email; none of the 1000+ contacts i imported from my BB Storm 2 registered in the create email mode; the contacts are in the phone but were not recognized when sending emails; the verizon tech called Motorola and nothing worked; so they opt to the k9 email service; which didnt work with netzero platform as well; irgo I returned the Droid and went back to my BB Storm 2, I will be waiting for the new Apple I phone to hit Verizon! Thanks !

I did resolve this problem with my Netzero account.
I had the same problem for 1st 3 weeks I used my new Droid X. Had full function with gmail and my corp emails, but could only read and not send with my Netzero account. The Verizon Techs could not fix, and our corp IT Mgr (co has 12 Droids) was baffled, too. I finally sent a req to Netzero tech support and followed their recommendations, which fixed the problem. Seemed too simple, so there must be an error in the Verizon Data table for Netzero email setup.
The Netzero instxn follows:
Below are basic NetZero configurations required in all email programs.
1. Your email address: Your email address is your Member ID followed by
"@netzero.com" (for example, memberid@netzero.com).
2. POP3 and SMTP Mail Server Name Settings:
POP3 (Incoming mail): pop.netzero.com
SMTP (Outgoing mail): authsmtp.netzero.com
3. Check the box next to My server requires authentication. On Droid X this is "Verify Certificate"
4. In the Account name text box, type your email address with @netzero.com
5. Incoming mail port: 110
6. Outgoing mail port : 587
7. SSL for Incoming and Outgoing should be turned Off.
Also please note that, you may need to refer the device manual or contact the concerned
product vendor to configure the above settings in your phone.
I hope this addresses your concern.
Thanks for using NetZero!
I went into Settings/Accounts/Netzero and set up to comply with these settings in 1-7 above. This got me full function, in and out, with Netzero. Hope it helps.
LOVE my Droid X!

It appears Netzero changed their features and does not offer pop3 emails to smart phones without subscribing to their MegaMail package. I was having issues with my neztero email for months. I finally contacted netzero and they told me my free email did not allow service to smartphones. It's 11.95 per year. I decided to upgrade since I did not want to change my email address.. I have it for 10 years and would hate to have to change it. I upgraded and it immediately solved the issue.

I was figureing it was something like that, its al about the money.... Wasnt it nice for them ti notify the customer of this change instead of informing them when they call when it quite working.... Yahoo on some devices does the same thing, if you dont use the plus version pop3 access is restricted..
