Does anyone know how to fix texting thread to show entire conversation?

I just upgraded a few days ago to the Droid X...I love the phone thus far but when I am having a conversation via sms text, it is not showing what I am writing...it is only showing what the other person is writing to me. I need to be able to see all responses on the entire thread. Is there a setting to fix this or is this a software issue? Please HELP!!!

I am having the same problem.  Did you ever figure out a solution?

I don't have a solution if you are using the stock messaging app.

I can recommend the Handcent messaging app, available in the App Market. Yeah, yeah, shouldn't have to get another app to do something the stock application won't, yada yada. Just get over it and get Handcent. Even if the stock app worked as it is supposed to, Handcent messaging works so much better.

I see where a lot of folks are using the Go Messaging app, but it was twitchy to me. Both apps are similar, so I doubt you will go wrong with either application.

Thanks for the reply.  This problem showed up in  the 2.3.3 version upgrade.  I seem to be going backwards.  Battery life seems worse too.

Oh, sorry, X2 user here.

Both my daughter and my girlfriend have X's with Gingerbread. My daughter uses texting to no end,( Handcent, of course) and I've not heard a "Daddy, fix my phone" yet (but the day ain't over..)).

My girlfriend hasn't mentioned any issues with hers, but she does absolutely nothing but make phone calls with hers. (yes, these people still exist...), so I've not had any troubleshooting experience with the Gingerbread update.

But as I said, the day ain't over...

I only had this show up on one customers device and resolved it with a backup and hard reset..

Thank you all for your feedback.

Wildman gave one of  the ultimate steps to attempt.  If anyone is still experiencing this and a power cycle and or updated software is not assisting the next step would be a factory reset.  You can do this by navigating to Settings>Privacy>Factory Data Reset>Reset Phone>Erase Everything.  After the reset it will prompt you to reactivate the phone.  Please keep in mind this will erase everything on the device so if desired please back up.  Thank you.
