Does this phone screen freeze?

I just got my first smartphone yesterday - the HTC Droid Incredible.  I switched to Verizon b/c I heard they had the best service (though I have to admit I wasn't impressed with the sound quality of my calls yesterday).

 

Anyway my concerns from playing with the phone yesterday are these:

 

- while on a phone call, the other speaker couldn't hear me talk, this happened several times that we had to disconnect and recall. 

 

- the screen froze and wouldn't let me navigate out of what I want a couple of times.

 

- finally the screen doesn't always automatically switch from the horizontal back to vertical position.

 

Are these common problems with this phone?

If you just got the phone yesterday, take it back and get a new one pronto.  The switching of screen orientation is usually fixed with a little shake.Also make sure you have the option marked in settings to allow the screen to auto orientate.

 

But I have had my Dinc since April and I have never had a screen locking up issue.

ditto. got mine at launch and have not had those problems. take it back for a new one. also, the quality is just not what you are probably used to and there's nothing you can really do about it. they are puting more and more effort into the smartphone capabilities and less effort into the actual call quality these days. it won't sound as good as older "phones." and the rear speaker is cheap in my opinion. all of that being said, i wouldn't trade my incredible for anything on the market....and that's after being out for 8 months!!!!
