Double shut off

This was mentioned once before, so I apologize for posting it again. Since GB, when I shut off my DX in a minute or two it comes back on. When I shut it off the second time, it seems to stay off. Now, my question is, is an apps making it do that, or is it something in GB itself? Has anyone else have this happen to them?

Mortb, if you're still experiencing the same issue with "double shut down" I would like to make a suggestion, try putting the phone into Safe Mode and retest. Safe mode will allow the device to boot up without allowing any non-essential applications to run. This is another way to confirm if the issue is being caused by an application.

I remember a few users report this with the leaks and beta builds but only a small amount and I do not recall seeing any solutions.. The only thing I can think it may be a app hanging at shutdown that may cause this to happen, try backing up all apps and then remove them and see if the issue goes away, if so then it is related to a installed app.

I haven't installed any apps in months, As you and a few others, I am very careful of what apps I download and keep. With Froyo, I never had this problem. It's not a big thing. I just shut down, wait a few seconds, and shut down again. I notice they slipped in a "Sleep" mode for putting the DX to sleep and am wondering if this has anything to do with it.

I really like the addition of SLEEP MODE ... It's similar to Windows Hibernate mode - shuts down the phone but keeps stuff in Memory so it comes up very fast and usable almost immediately. Uses very minimal resources/battery when SLEEPING.

mine did it once before the update, haven't seen it after, so far.

i'd shut it off when i got the 15% message and heard it toot several hours later at 5%.

not sure when it came back on but i didn't hear the notification toot.

it was a good thing i heard the 2nd toot at 5% or it would have gone flat.

Mine is still behaving the same way. The first time is a "practice" power off, then the second time it knows I'm serious. This is a new situation with me since the GB update and I've added no new apps. All in all, if this is the biggest problem I have with Gingerbread, I can live with it. For the most part, I'm pleased.

Mine did this a few times on Froyo, more often with Gingerbread. Doesn't bother me at all, because I never shut my phone down, when I power it down it's because I just wanted to reboot... so as far as I'm concerned, it's a "feature", not a bug...

I have tried to duplicate it with my device but mines seem to shut down everytime on first try... Thats a strange one.. :smileysurprised:

Wildman Birtha Does just like your X Does when i press the top Power button an when i touch shut down she shut down an does it quickly an then it will show the Red Moto Logo an then fades off or it'll show the Big Battery an how much is in the Tank. O an wildman since i Moved my receiver for my KeyBoard from the back to the front of my Pc an a shorter distance i'm seeing better Resolts might not have to enter deuce it to the Brick wall after all. :smileyvery-happy: i'll cross my fingers. :smileywink:
