Your Droid should show up on the computer as a (flash) drive. You can drag and drop to and from the phone in this mode.

Thanks to the community members for your suggestions. Adding to what was stated, you may need to locate the needed drivers for your device using the Macintosh operating system. You can try your computer website or HTC for software driver assistance designed for Mac computers. Once you have the proper drivers, your device can be recognized to then you perform the syncing process as suggested.
Thanks,

why is a mac so different, needing to find phone drivers. my son has a macpro and had no driver issues with his droid x or he woud've called me.
the droid x manual says "mac or pc", how can an htc device be that much different?
i have an older pc and the 1st time i connected the phone usb, drivers were installed, didn't go to a site to download, just happened.

You do NOT need a driver with a Mac! I've connected often without a driver.

where was an iphone mentioned? the hi-jack was an htc.
I think they were saying that since the phone(s) being used aren't iPhones, Steve Jobs wants to make it difficult for people to use them on macs (an Apple product)

The OP has a Droid X and did not mention a mac, just asked about downloading, in general. It was another member that mentioned HTC and a mac.
The thread was hijacked by that post and the OP was left out in the rain.
Here are some additional links for "downloading" pictures.
